Job Summary and Qualifications

Position Summary:

Under the general direction of the Radiology Director and Radiology Medical Director, is responsible for coordinating and supervising activities (technical operations, personnel management, quality control and financial management) in the assigned service area(s) of accountability.

The area of accountability relates to Diagnostic Radiology and Mammography procedures/service area with an additional assignment of responsibility as determined by the Radiology Administrative Director.

The supervisor prepares schedules for the assigned staff and participates in interviews with candidates for technical and clerical positions.

Performs employee evaluations for assigned staff and in concert with the Director presents evaluations to employees.

Insures that customer service standards are maintained in the department at all times including ability to proactively intervene in situations of those not directly involved in assigned area.

Assures that areas functions in accordance with all local, state and federal regulations including certification requirements.

Takes call when necessary to insure that assigned area is covered. Participates in shared administrative call for the department as a whole.

Monday-Friday 8am-4:30pm with call required.

What qualifications you will need:

Education: Graduate of an accredited program in Radiologic Technology. A two year of four year program leading either to a 2 year certificate or a Bachelor's of Science in Radiology Technology.

Knowledge/Professional Licensure/Registration/Certifications: American Registry of Radiology Technology (ARRT). Can also hold additional certification in mammography (ARRT (M), not a requirement, Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS). Knowledge of Radiology operations (inpatient and outpatient).

Experience: Minimum of five (5) years work related experience in a radiology modality (i.e., Diagnostic Radiology, MRI, CT, Interventional Procedures or Nuclear Medicine).

Management Experience: Two (2) years of supervisory experience.

Administrative Skills: Strong interpersonal skills as well as written and verbal communication. Must have problem solving skills and be able to follow verbal and written directions accurately

Equipment/Machine Skills: Various diagnostic imaging units both stationary and mobile as well as mammographic units including breast biopsy system associated clinical equipment for patient monitoring purposes, computer systems, phone, fax, paging system, film processing both wet and dry and HIS/RIS system

Other Skills: Flexible and self-motivated. A team player with the ability to interact effectively with all contacts in a pleasant, positive and courteous manner. Able to handle periods of intensity with calm. Capable of functioning with initiative and independent judgment. Must have current broad knowledge of assessment, treatment and care techniques for specific assigned modality. Able to work in stressful situations while maintaining composure and perform the required duties.
