Role OverviewAt Function Health, we're building a next-generation imaging network where clinical precision meets operational excellence. As an MRI Specialist, you will serve as a central force in elevating imaging quality across all partnered imaging facilities.
This is not a traditional technologist role. You will operate at the intersection of
clinical expertise, systems optimization, and education. From designing and standardizing protocols to solving complex safety scenarios and mentoring technologists, your work will directly shape the quality and consistency of MRI across a multi-site, multi-vendor environment.
This hybrid role combines
remote clinical oversight with
on-site engagement, including travel to onboard new facilities and ensuring sustained imaging excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Facility Onboarding: Onboard new imaging sites, including protocol implementation and hands-on technologist training
- Protocol Optimization & Image Quality: Review and refine MRI protocols across multiple vendors (Siemens, GE, Philips, Canon, etc.) Optimize scan parameters to achieve superior image quality while maintaining efficiency. Drive standardization while adapting to site-specific constraints
- MRI Safety & Risk Management: Evaluate implant and device cases to ensure MRI safety. Promote and uphold MRI safety best practices across all sites
- Quality Assurance & Performance Improvement: Conduct routine image quality audits and protocol reviews. Track and improve key performance metrics, including repeat rates, scan quality, and protocol adherence. Identify trends and implement solutions to elevate clinical performance
- Education & Training: Develop and maintain SOPs, training materials, and internal knowledge resources. Build structured training programs for technologists across partner sites.
- Data & Workflow Optimization: Have DICOM and imaging workflow knowledge to troubleshoot and streamline data transfer issues. Partner with internal teams to improve interoperability, efficiency, and system reliability
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with operations, technical and medical teams to continuously improve imaging workflows and outcomes
Qualifications & Skills- 5+ years of experience as an MRI Technologist
- ARRT (MR) or ARMRIT certification
- Strong expertise in MRI protocols and image optimization
- Excellent communication and training skills, with the ability to collaborate across teams
- Proven ability to adapt across diverse clinical environments and systems
- Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to clinical excellence and MRI safety
Preferred Background- Experience working with at least two MRI vendors (e.g. Siemens, GE, Philips, United, etc)
- MR Safety Officer (MRSO) certification
- CT experience is a plus
- Comfortable with a hybrid schedule of working from home with ~30-40% travel
Why This Role Stands OutThis role is designed for MRI technologists who want to move beyond the console and into
system-level impact. You'll help define how MRI is performed, taught, and scaled across a growing network, influencing both
clinical quality and operational excellence.
If you're the kind of person who notices when a sequence could be 15% better, enjoys solving complex imaging puzzles, and takes pride in raising the bar for everyone around you, you'll feel right at home here.
