Full Job Description
Materials and Manufacturing Technology is focused on discovering, developing and transitioning innovative materials and manufacturing technologies into products. Our highly capable workforce excels in a team environment of challenge and opportunity on multiple projects, and partners with business units, government customers, global suppliers, and universities to rapidly mature key technologies to production readiness. Our team is looking for a high performing, collaborative Chemical Technology Engineer to evaluate, analyze and define innovative coating systems and materials across the Boeing Enterprise and into the supplier network. We are currently hiring for a broad range of experience levels including; Early-Level Engineer located in Seattle, Washington. Position Responsibilities: • Evaluates parts, materials, processes, technology or equipment through research and testing to ensure safety, reliability and adherence to requirements and specifications • Analyzes failed parts and processes to reduce or eliminate future failures • Generates test plans, catalog test data, identifies and categorizes failures, determines root cause and documents results and recommendations as well as operating procedures • Determines suitability of parts, materials and processes and coordinates resolution of issues with suppliers and customers • Supports continuous improvement of products and processes by designing, developing, fabricating, testing, evaluating and implementing new concepts and technology • Provides knowledge and technical consultation to internal and external customers • Performs testing to analyze and develop materials with improved characteristics and properties for future and sustaining program efforts • Generates testing coupons, operate test equipment, conduct test activities, monitor test procedures, author test reports, and maintains compliance with laboratory safety practices This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the listed location. This position must meet export control compliance requirements. To meet export control compliance requirements, a "U.S. Person" as defined by 22 C.F.R. a7120.15 is required. "U.S. Person" includes U.S. Citizen, lawful permanent resident, refugee, or asylee. Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience): • Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering, Materials Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aeronautical Engineering, or Chemistry • 1 year of experience working in a laboratory environment • 1 year experience creating test plans, executing experiments, and collecting data • Experience with automation and laser technology • Tolerance working with and around chemicals (e.g. paints) • Organizational skills to handle multiple program and work requests from start to finish • Strong ability to perform work independently as well as work well with others • High attention to detail, self-starter and results driven • Excellent interpersonal communication and problem-solving skills, and ability to perform effectively in a team environment • Experience with MS Office Suite, such as Word and Excel • Strong technical writing skills with the ability to clearly communicate complex procedures, results, and technical conclusions
