FTS has as opportunity for a Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Engineer in Chantilly, VA.
The Modeling, Simulation & Analysis Engineer will work in a collaborative teaming and peer review environment studying and analyzing a wide variety of interesting and complex problems in the Space domain.
Responsibilities- Perform orbital mechanics modeling & simulation (M&S) (Mod/Sim) including orbit determination, orbital maneuvering, and spacecraft flight dynamics
- Perform link budget, latency, and throughput analyses for RF and optical space-based relay and space-to-ground telecommunications
- Perform assessments of satellite payload sensor phenomenology (optics/radar/RF) and product quality
- Assess end-to-end system designs against Required Performance Parameters and identify required Technical Performance Measures.
- Create MS&A supporting documentation to include terms of reference, study plans, modeling assumptions, data input/output, analytic results, visualizations, and conclusions.
- Advise the government and contractor teams of forward-looking and follow-on studies, analyses to incorporate into a roadmap of future analytic planning
Required Skills/Qualifications- TS/SCI with polygraph
- B.S. STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Math) in engineering discipline
- 2+ years of relevant experience
- Experience using one or more of the following: C++, Python, R, SQL, PostgreSQL, Linux, MATLAB, VBA, or STK
- Engineering analysis (collecting, organizing, analyzing data) experience
- Excellent communication skills that will allow the presentation of findings to internal and external customers
DesiredSkills/Qualifications- Experience with free space optical and optical space-to-ground systems
- Experience integrating MS&A and MBSE data sets using SysML
- Experience developing and maintaining MBSE models
- Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau
- Experience in the development and maintenance of MS&A tools and software
