Eaton's ES AMER ESS division is currently seeking a Model Based Design - Senior Engineer.

The expected annual salary range for this role is $94000 - $138000 a year.

What you'll do:

Eaton is seeking a Senior Model-Based System Design (MBSD) Engineer who will play a pivotal role in shaping the embedded systems products in the Voltage Regulator, Switchgear, Capacitor, Grid Advisor product lines that support the electric grid's future. Your role is crucial in harnessing high-tech embedded control platforms to bring to life the protection and control requirements necessary for the grid's evolution. This position will be a hybrid role based in Franksville, WI.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

-Supports model-based projects / programs involving multiple hardware, software, firmware, and FPGA components in developing embedded controls and features for the products within the Power Reliability and Power Delivery and Regulation Divisions.
-Develops embedded control model-based systems architectures and models, collaborating with more senior MBSD engineers, MBD engineers, application SME's, firmware, software, and hardware architects.
-Drive design iterations, optimization, and quality by utilizing debugging and simulation tools synthesizing inputs based on normal and abnormal power systems distribution conditions and settings.
-Evaluates system level requirements and controls algorithms to ensure product performance, functionality, and robustness. Helps define and improve embedded controls MBSD standards and processes.
-Provides technical leadership in cross-functional team setting (e.g., communicating and coordinating cross-functional efforts, estimating level of effort for features, aligning MBSD team to wider development team direction) to develop system requirements, design, plan and execute achieving sprint and project goals.
-Develops and maintains industry knowledge for power systems and MBSD (e.g., product landscape and competitors, standards and regulations, new technology, etc.) and applies learnings to innovate in new product development and modelling practices.
-Knowledgeable of MBSD; able to explain MBSD concepts to technical and non-technical audience; actively learns and seeks opportunities to become an MBSD Subject-Matter Expert (SME).
-Learns and deploys best-in-class MBSE frameworks, including controls architecture design, requirements management, simulation architectures, models, auto code generation, firmware integration and advanced / automated testing methodologies (e.g., MIL, SIL, HIL) collaboratively with Electrical Sector - Americas MBSD chief engineers.

Qualifications:

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

-Bachelor's degree in a STEM discipline from an accredited institution.
-Minimum of three years of engineering experience
-Minimum of one year of experience in model based design
-No relocation is offered for this role. Candidates must reside within 50 miles of Franksville, WI. Active Duty Military Service member candidates are exempt from the geographical area limitation.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

-Strong interest in learning or familiarity with electrical / power systems engineering concepts.
-Basic coding experience.
-Demonstrated analytical and problem-solving skills in an academic or professional setting.
-Demonstrated ability to learn and adapt quickly in an academic or professional setting.

Position Criteria

-Ability to travel up to 20%.
-Effectively collaborate, work and communicate within a global team environment.
-Collaborate with a global multi-discipline engineering teams (software, firmware, hardware, power systems, systems, product and test) to deliver products and features in the Controls and Relays Group.
-Collaborate with external and internal customers, such as Marketing, Service, Operations and other engineering teams throughout the product development life cycle.
