This role is part of the Lunar Permanence business unit, which develops Blue Origin's Blue Moon landers and related products. To further Blue Origin's mission of millions of people living and working in space for the benefit of Earth, we are building sustainable infrastructure for our transport of crew and cargo from Earth to the lunar surface.
As part of a small, passionate and accomplished team of experts, you will be leading the Mk1 Vehicle Electrical Harness Design team. In this role, you will develop wiring interconnect diagrams (WID), harness assembly drawings, and harness installation drawings. This position will directly impact the history of space exploration and will require your dedicated commitment and detailed attention towards safe and repeatable spaceflight.
RESPONSIBILITIES:Scope Definition, Integration and Delivery
• Own the vehicle harness scope by ensuring cost-effective execution while maintaining control on harness deliverables needed to meet program objectives.
• Identify and manage technical and programmatic risks/opportunities. This includes technical, scope (i.e., cost and schedule), asset and safety risks and opportunities specific to program execution.
• Track and manage the harness team execution, deliverable schedule and hardware cost.
• Create the framework used to develop and drive collection of project data and use this data to inform & monitor key project metrics
• Identify opportunities for process improvements
Technical Leadership
• Develop and oversee the technical plan, ensuring its alignment to both vehicle system/customer requirements and internal design criteria.
• Own the overall lifecycle of the MK1 vehicle harness scope from development through integration and verification towards long term successful cost-optimized production operations.
• Support design configuration development and trade studies
• Support the assembly and testing of cables and harnesses
Functional Management
• Oversee the full lifecycle of your employees including talent acquisition, employee development, and performance management.
• Foster an environment of continuous growth and learning, ensuring compliance with HR processes and policies.
QUALIFICATIONS:Required- Proven track record of leading and managing teams to deliver harness or other complex engineering subsystem or products.
- B.S. in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, Physics, Computer Engineering, or related technical subject area
• 10+ years of experience designing Wire Harnesses for the Aerospace industry
• Familiarity with Creo, Zuken or Windchill
- Design for manufacturability experience
- Project management experience
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to effectively communicate across all levels of the organization.
Preferred Qualifications• Knowledge of harness fabrication and installation processes
• Experience with launch vehicle or spacecraft electrical/mechanical systems
- Experience with resource/budget management and reporting
- Experience with Agile, IMP-level scheduling, risk management, configuration management, requirements management processes
- Demonstrated ability to lead change and drive continuous improvement
Base Pay Range for:
WA applicants is $150,743.00 - $211,039.50
