Full Job Description
Mission Sync / Senior Mission Lead

The Mission Sync / Senior Mission Lead serves as the senior mission integrator and subject-matter expert for Army cybersecurity mitigation implementation efforts. This leader provides senior-level advice across Army operations, acquisition, cybersecurity, weapons systems, and program execution. The Mission SME should represent an operationally credible, seasoned practitioner with firsthand experience in Army acquisition, fielded or developing weapons systems, program-office execution, and cyber operations. This individual should be able to connect senior-leader priorities to the realities of systems engineering, acquisition timelines, operational risk, cybersecurity requirements, and technical implementation. The Mission SME will shape and guide senior leadership briefings, pre-briefs, decision forums, and cross-organizational engagements. The Mission SME will work closely with the Action Officer, who will own day-to-day coordination, meeting logistics, staff taskers, action tracking, and requirements routing.

Location: Onsite 3-5 days a week

Key Responsibilities
  • Advising senior leaders on Army-wide cybersecurity vulnerabilities, mitigation priorities, operational risk, and implementation progress
  • Developing the mission narrative, decision points, and recommended actions for senior-level forums
  • Leading or supporting engagement with Army program offices, NSA, Army staff organizations, and cross-Service stakeholders
  • Translating senior-leader intent and mission requirements into prioritized execution for Automation, Engineering, and other technical workstreams
  • Applying firsthand systems and weapons-platform experience to assess feasibility, dependencies, mission impact, and implementation risk
  • Providing seasoned cyber-operator perspective on vulnerabilities, mitigation strategies, continuous monitoring, protection activities, and operational trade-offs
  • Challenging assumptions, identifying gaps, and escalating blockers that could affect modernization or protection outcomes
  • Leading small-group meetings, working groups, and cross-organizational coordination forums
  • Providing quality control and senior review of briefing materials, read-aheads, decision packages, and staff products
  • Mentoring and guiding the Action Officer, particularly on Army staff processes, acquisition context, stakeholder engagement, and classified mission execution
  • Supporting the design of repeatable governance and synchronization processes across the mission


Requirements

Required Qualifications
  • Significant experience supporting the Army, Army acquisition organizations, program executive offices, program management offices, or comparable defense organizations.
  • Familiarity with Army funding and budgetary processes, senior leadership forums, and organizational structure.
  • Advanced cybersecurity knowledge, at the CISSP-level or above, with multiple certifications or equivalent experience.
  • Significant knowledge of networking, systems architecture, and systems of systems discipline.
  • Firsthand experience with weapons systems, mission systems, system integration, fielded capabilities, or acquisition program execution.
  • Demonstrated experience as a seasoned cyber operator, cybersecurity mission lead, or senior cyber practitioner.
  • Ability to assess the operational, acquisition, technical, and mission implications of cybersecurity vulnerabilities and mitigation strategies.
  • Strong understanding of Army acquisition processes, organizational structures, leadership forums, and decision-making culture.
  • Experience translating senior-leader intent and mission needs into actionable technical, programmatic, or operational requirements.
  • Experience preparing, pre-briefing, and briefing senior military, civilian, or executive leaders.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-organizational working groups and resolve issues involving competing priorities, dependencies, and stakeholders.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to produce concise executive-level materials.
  • Strong program leadership and prioritization skills, with the ability to guide multiple high-priority workstreams simultaneously.
  • Experience operating in classified environments, including classified networks, compartmentalization, classified material handling, and secure coordination.
  • TS/SCI-eligible; must hold a SECRET clearance to start work.
