The LSE-Lead Systems Engineer is responsible for technical guidance and mentorship of multi-disciplined engineering teams. The LSE is also one of the senior technical interfaces with internal and external customers, industry partners, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders. The Stinger Missile LSE is responsible for supporting the Chief Engineer (CE) in helping define and maintain the appropriate level of technical rigor and coordination across functions and engineering disciplines across the various production and sustainment efforts within the program. The candidate will also need prior multidiscipline engineering knowledge and experience, as well as production experience. The LSE is expected to mentor engineers both technically and with their career.
The primary focus of this LSE position will be to make a dated baseline robust and to modern standards. The Missile LSE will need to utilize the team to update specifications, prints and verification plans. They will build and drive the execution plans to close gaps in the technical baseline to ensure program longevity. The plans will include any analyses needed, performance assessments, demonstrations, tests and documentation changes. The role will also involve leading small cross-functional technical teams and to collaborate with CEs, Program Managers, and engineering leadership for any current and upcoming technical projects on multiple All Up Round (AUR) configurations.
What You Will Do
Protect the system technical integrity to ensure we deliver a product that meets the customers’ and warfighters’ needs while working through challenges to accelerate
Coordinate efforts across multiple disciplines and program efforts, to include coordination with external customer entities
Communicate to Raytheon leadership to provide technical program status, accomplishments, issues, and help needed, while influencing the IPTs/CPTs to ensure appropriate and effective program alignment and teamwork. Provide guidance to multiple teams of multi-disciplined engineers in support of product production.
Interact and coordinate with program stakeholders, including program customers, government organizations, industry partners, contractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to influence and guide program production efforts.
Drive hardware obsolescence verifications, manufacturing qualifications, test optimization and yield improvement efforts including impacts to requirements development and architecture
Rapidly assimilate and apply knowledge in varied and disparate technical fields to achieve balanced system performance.
Accurately interpret internal and external customer requirements and objectives, effectively decomposing such into actionable direction to the program team and stakeholders.
You will coordinate technical aspects with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) across multiple programs, using common hardware and software technology to maintain program execution pace
Identify and mitigate both immediate and strategic risks by making decisions that balance required and desired technical capabilities against the Missile Performance Specification (MPS) and Weapon Specification requirements.
Support incremental break-in of upgrades and system improvements
Help drive positive change within the production environment as a key stakeholder in Failure Review Boards, FRACAS activities, and other continuous improvement efforts
Core Team Lead of the ERB/CCB activities
Qualifications You Must Have
Typically requires a Bachelor’s in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of prior engineering experience.
Experience leading full systems engineering lifecycle.
Experience leading cross-functional teams
Qualifications We Prefer
An advanced degree in Engineering, Science, Mathematics, or related discipline
Experience in producing and testing guidance electronics systems or electronics subsystem products in the Defense Industry
Raytheon Level 4 (or higher) Certified Lead Systems Engineer, or intention to pursue the Level 4 certification
10 or more years of relevant work experience including prior experience in a technical leadership role and including experience across the development and production lifecycle
Experience with / Understanding of RF electronics system performance
Experience in Land and Air Defense missile system architectures and products
Excellent communication, technical writing, oral presentation, and interpersonal skills
Experience across the product lifecycle, including concept development, architecture, design, integration, verification, production
Experience with test/support equipment
Ability to develop effective internal and external customer/stakeholder relationships to ensure customer/stakeholder satisfaction and continued business
Experience with Engineering Risk and Opportunity (R&O) and FRACAS Management

The salary range for this role is 132,400 USD - 251,600 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
