Full Job Description
Reporting to the Superintendent, Operations and Reliability Support, the Mining Equipment Technical Specialist (internally titledTechnical SupportRepresentative) is responsible for assisting with the timely repair of down equipment. The Technical Support Representativeensures that field and shop activities involving the maintenance and repair of mining equipment are conducted in a safe, efficient, and economical manner.

This position is based inElkford, BC.This position will work a 7x7 schedule rotation. Housing is available.The salary range for this position is$95,000 - $120,000.

What You'll Do

  • Respond quickly to equipment down situations where advanced troubleshooting is required and provide after hours technical support.
  • Assist in developing project plans, priorities, budgets, and schedules ensuring full compliance with applicable regulations, guidelines and procedures.
  • Track and monitor test programs in the field and communicate with the Reliability Group and Corporate Technical Support.
  • Track and report product problems and provide status updates.
  • Identify and analyze technical issues which can impact availability and communicate to stake holders.
  • Serve customers by providing information and resolving technical problems.
  • Act as the liaison between SMS Equipment, Komatsu, and the customer.
  • Lead task force committees on product issues.
  • Prepare daily and customer reports as required.
  • Provide technical support to ensure the success of both the preventative and predictive maintenance programs.
  • Reviews equipment preventative, vibration, and oil analysis programs as appropriate to maximize benefit.
  • Assist tradespeople in repair procedures and techniques when problems are encountered.


What You Bring

The successful candidate will havea Journeyperson level trade certification along with a minimum of 3 years Komatsu equipment specific experience and/or heavy equipment experience. Other requirements include:

  • Knowledge of maintenance and repair of mining parts and equipment.
  • Excellent communication, organizational and multi-tasking skills.
  • Possess great accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent computer skills and ability to learn new technology.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office suite, General Electric Software, Cummins Engine Software and Payload.
  • Knowledge of all relevant acts, regulations, and equipment inspection requirements.
  • Valid drivers license.
