Job Description

WSP is seeking a Mining Construction Coordinator (Site Services) to oversee and coordinate onsite construction site support services for a large mining EPCM project in our growing Earth & Environment team. This full-time onsite position can be from anywhere in the United States with preference in Nevada, Utah, or near major mining projects. Travel per diem is available for those not local to the projects.

The full-time Construction Coordinator will deliver safe, efficient, and coordinated site support services and contracts that enable various projects that involves an open pit mining environment. This role is responsible for ensuring these site services meet all regulatory and stakeholder requirements to deliver successful outcomes for the client.

Responsibilities include:
  • Manage the scoping/purchasing, scheduling, coordination, and oversight of site services contractors and services (e.g., temporary facilities, security, utilities, road maintenance, surveyors, emergency response, site radio and internet, etc.) including performance related to safety, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Develop and manage execution plans, schedules, and costs to align site services with the overall project schedule.
  • Serve as the interface between WSP construction management team and contractors/service providers to ensure efficient communication, on budget/schedule delivery, and risk mitigation.
  • Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements on site.
  • Maintain accurate daily records and tracking, assist in validating invoices and change orders, and other documentation including QAQC inspection of services.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.


Desired Skills and Experience

We are seeking self-motivated professionals with:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management is preferred or trade school or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in large-scale heavy civil construction, process facilities, and/or mining infrastructure, such as haul roads, waste rock facilities, tailings systems, and associated support facilities.
  • Demonstrated hands-on construction coordination experience in active mining settings, with ability to track and document multiple vendors at the same time.
  • Commitment to safety. MSHA 48B Surface required and OSHA 30-hour training preferred.
  • Experience with developing scopes of work and estimating schedule and cost. Ability to liaise between procurement and contractors.
  • Strong verbal/written communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and decision-making skills with good working computer capabilities in MS Office products.
  • Able to walk distances on uneven sites, climb small ladders, and work in an active construction environment.
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
