Job Description

WSP is seeking a Mining Construction Coordinator (Civil/Concrete) to oversee and coordinate onsite civil and concrete construction activities for a large mining EPCM project in our growing Earth & Environment team. This full-time position can be from anywhere in the United States with preference in Nevada, Utah, or near major mining project locations.

The full-time Construction Coordinator/Superintendent will deliver safe, efficient, and coordinated civil, earthworks, and concrete scopes for projects that involves an open pit mining environment. This role is responsible for ensuring field execution is aligned with our engineering, procurement, and project controls staff while meeting all regulatory and stakeholder requirements to deliver successful outcomes for the client.

Responsibilities include:
  • Lead construction oversight and coordination for new mine development of various civil, earthworks, and large concrete pour elements, ensuring alignment with engineering design, specifications, and regulatory standards.
  • Manage construction contractors and field teams, including performance oversight related to safety, cost, schedule, and quality.
  • Serve as the primary interface between contractors, engineering, procurement, and project controls teams to ensure efficient communication and risk mitigation.
  • Coordinate closely with design engineers, geotechnical teams, and project stakeholders to support constructability, sequencing, and field modifications.
  • Drive a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all health, safety, and environmental requirements on site.
  • Oversee QA/QC, inspection, and material testing programs to confirm construction meets technical and safety requirements.
  • Support procurement and field implementation of key materials and systems.
  • Develop and manage construction execution plans, schedules, risk registers, and cost tracking for large-scale earthworks and concrete components.
  • Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP's Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.


Desired Skills and Experience

We are seeking self-motivated professionals with:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, construction management is preferred or trade school or equivalent work experience.
  • 5+ years of relevant experience in large-scale heavy civil construction, concrete pours, and/or mining infrastructure, such as haul roads, waste rock facilities, tailings systems, etc.
  • Demonstrated hands-on construction management experience in active mining settings with ability to track and document multiple vendors at the same time.
  • Understanding of heap leach pad construction, stacking systems, solution management infrastructure, and related environmental controls preferred.
  • Commitment to safety. MSHA 48B Surface required and OSHA 30-hour training preferred.
  • Experience with construction plans and specifications and relating that to project scope, schedule, and cost.
  • Strong verbal/written communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and decision-making skills with good working computer capabilities in MS Office products.
  • Ability to liaise between designers, owners, contractors, and end-users.
  • Able to walk distances on uneven sites, climb small ladders, and work in an active construction environment.
  • Must pass drug test, background check and must have a satisfactory driving record in accordance with the Company's driving (MVR) policy.
