YOUR NEXT CHALLENGE:Reporting to the Assistant General Manager-Technical Services, you will be part of the Technical Services Department. You will lead and manage the resource estimation and geological modelling functions for the Detour Lake Mine. This role is critical in ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of mineral resource models and supports strategic mine planning and decision-making. You will ensure that the goals and objectives are achieved while promoting and respecting Agnico Eagle's values, Health & Safety Code of Conduct and the environment.
- Lead the development, validation, and maintenance of 3D geological and resource models using industry-standard software (e.g., Leapfrog, Datamine, Vulcan);
- Oversee and ensure the accuracy of mineral resource estimations in accordance with NI 43-101 or other relevant reporting standards;
- Collaborate with open pit and underground teams in exploration, mine geology, and engineering to integrate geological data into mineral resource models;
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to a team of geologists and modellers;
- Conduct regular audits and reviews of resource models and estimation methodologies;
- Prepare and present technical reports, resource statements, and updates to senior management and external stakeholders;
- Support strategic planning, life-of-mine planning, and economic evaluations through robust resource modelling;
- Ensure compliance with corporate governance, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices;
- Perform calibration and support the reconciliation between resource models and actual production to identify variances and improve model accuracy.
WHAT YOU NEED TO SUCCEED- Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Geology or a related field;
- 15 years of experience in mineral resource estimation and geological modelling, preferably in a gold production environment;
- Professional designation (e.g., P.Geo., P.Eng, or equivalent);
- Experience with both open-pit and underground mining operations;
- Expertise in geological modelling and resource estimation software (e.g., DataMine, Leapfrog, Vulcan).
- Strong understanding of geostatistics, QA/QC protocols, and resource classification frameworks;
- Experience with technical reporting under NI 43-101;
- Excellent working knowledge of all Microsoft Office Suite applications, especially Outlook, Excel, Word & PowerPoint.
Your Work Schedule:
- 5/2 schedule (Monday to Friday); a combination of tele-working with presence at our offices in either Timmins, ON, Sudbury, ON, Rouyn-Noranda, QC or Val-d'Or, QC. One site visit per month to our Detour Lake Mine will be required.
