Job Title: Midland Basin Power Project Engineer
Compensation: $97.17/hr
Location: EMHC, Spring, TX, or Hwy 80, Midland, TX. If based in Spring, occasional travel to Midland is required, approximately twice per month.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday

ScopeMain FunctionsPerforms engineering design evaluations and works to complete projects within budget and schedule constraints. Reviews industry policies and procedures to ensure data accuracy, security, and regulatory compliance. Reviews reports of production, malfunction, and maintenance to identify or address problems. Provides technical support for the engineering process and backs up the Project Manager as required.
Works under immediate supervision, relying on instructions and pre-established guidelines. Primary job functions do not typically require independent judgment.
Tasks and Responsibilities- Participates in Invitation to Tender (ITT) development, bid evaluation, and contractor selection.
- Participates in identifying and sourcing long-lead equipment, assuring Front End Engineering Design (FEED) contractor support until equipment is assigned to the contractor.
- Coordinates development of EMCAPS (ExxonMobil Capital Project Management System) Gate 3 deliverables.
- Coordinates development of the Functional Interaction Plan.
- Coordinates the project issues resolution process.
- Coordinates change requests and endorses change authorization.
- Completes the assigned work scope consistent with the Project Objectives.
- Engages Project Team and functional resources to verify that design and construction are consistent with project specifications and standards.
- Serves as the interface between the Project Team and Contractor.
- Ensures smooth transitions between project stages.
- Leads the Project Management Team (PMT) in applying Project Management Systems.
Skills and Qualifications- BS or MS degree in an engineering field; electrical engineering or a related field is strongly preferred.
- Experience in multiple assignments involving engineering, construction, and project management and controls activities.
- Prior experience supporting electrical substation and transmission line projects.
- Broad experience and skills gained through multiple functional and project assignments, with a multidisciplinary skill set.
- Broad knowledge of design standards, specifications, and work processes, particularly high-voltage electrical facility design and applicable U.S. regulations and standards, including NEC and API 14F.
- Understanding of the selection and specification of electrical systems and equipment, including transformers, switchgear, reclosers, protective relays, and HV/MV power cables.
- Knowledge of ERCOT and/or SPP grid design, operation, and capabilities.
- Strong leadership, influencing, interpersonal, organizational, coordination, planning, and interface skills.
- Ability to adapt to tight deadlines, heavy workloads, and frequent changes in priorities.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to read, write, and speak fluent English.
- Proficiency in the MS Office suite.
- Prior experience using PLS-CADD.
Manager's Note- Minimum five years of experience in the high-voltage electrical field and/or oil and gas industry.
