Full Job Description
The Bishop's School seeks a full-time math teacher beginning August 2026. This is an interim position for the [redacted] school year. The ideal candidate will have experience teaching middle school math courses and will be able to teach at different grade levels depending upon departmental need. The Math Department promotes an integrated, student-centered approach to education that utilizes collaborative problem sets to build applied skills in all areas of the curriculum. In addition to teaching workload, faculty responsibilities include serving as an advisor to students or other duties. Responsibilities Include: • Teach four sections of math • Meaningfully engage with students through advisory • Engage in co-curricular activities as assigned • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area • Collaborate with departmental colleagues in the development of curriculum and meaningful, relevant, learner-centered classroom experiences • Provide timely communication to students and their parents/guardians relating to grading and current academic standing • Employ a variety of pedagogical approaches to teach students with an array of learning styles • Be available to students during office hours and at other times throughout the day to provide guidance and support as needed • Uphold the School's Core Values • Demonstrate professionalism and tact • Stay up to date on industry standards, trends, developments and legal updates • Make timely and ethical decisions both systematically and under pressure • Comply with School's reporting policies and procedures Required Qualifications: • A bachelor's degree (B.A.) in Mathematics or a related field • An advanced degree in Mathematics or education (preferred) • A minimum of 3 years of teaching experience in middle school math • Experience facilitating student-led discussions • Demonstrated excellence in guiding diverse learners toward deep engagement with math • Interest in supporting current co-curricular programs • An unequivocal passion for working with adolescents and supporting them in all facets of their lives • Demonstrated commitment and competency in diversity, equity, inclusion, and justice • Ability to integrate technology into instruction • Eagerness to collaborate with other department members in creating meaningful, relevant, learner-centered classroom experiences • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally with students, parents, faculty, staff, administrators, and the broader school community • Strong work ethic, time management, verbal, written language, and interpersonal skills • Irrespective of own religious orientation, ability to support the School's mission and values as a school founded in the Episcopal tradition • Commitment to well-being as the foundation for growth The anticipated salary range for this position is $80,000 to $110,000 based on experience.
