PeopleTec is currently seeking a Mid / Senior-Level Hardware Design Engineerto support our Huntsville, ALlocation.

We are seeking a Hardware Design Engineer to join our team at PeopleTec. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a small team on a broad range of projects, both in laboratory and advanced manufacturing environments, challenging you to learn and grow in your career. Collaborating with other designers, test engineers, and manufacturing experts, you will apply your education, experience, and expertise to develop and evaluate innovative technologies designed to thrive in rugged military environments. You will work with a team to mature these technologies to production for high-reliability DoD applications. Eligible for sign-on bonus and relocation assistance.

Duties:

  • Work with a team to develop FPGA designs and firmware for components.
  • Design custom PCBs with large FPGA and microcontroller components for the evaluation, development, and test of digital IPs.
  • Participate in component selection integral to custom PCB development that includes ruggedness for environmental testing.
  • Prepare technical and progress reports on assigned tasks, develop specifications, evaluate suppliers, and analyze test reports.
  • Coordinate with other disciplines such as Manufacturing, Quality Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Procurement.
  • Develop, test, and evaluate new and innovative technology solutions for survival in DoD-relevant hostile environments.
Qualifications

Required Skills/Experience:

  • 5+ years of professional experience or equivalent graduate research
  • Experience with physical layout design tools
  • Design experience with component selection, schematic capture, layout, and release to fab
  • Experience establishing and implementing technical requirements
  • Experience developing and reviewing engineering drawings and/or specifications
  • Experience troubleshooting and debugging complex digital systems
  • This position is not suitable for remote work.
  • Travel: 10 %
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen
  • Candidates must be able to obtain a Secret clearance, with the ability to be nominated for and granted access to additional programs, and must maintain this level of clearance throughout their employment. Final Secret (or higher) clearance must be obtained within 6 months of employment or enrolled in Continuous Vetting (CV).

Education Requirements:

  • Master of Science degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering, or relevant field

Desired Skills:

  • Experience designing PCBs to meet military standards and specifications
  • Familiarity with the selection/application of FPGA components in systems design
  • PCB design experience with DDR memory
  • Experience with Xilinx and Microchip SoC FPGAs
  • DOD Top Secret clearance or SCI access (preferred)
