Overview

This role is at Spirit AeroSystems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit’s Commercial Business Units (“Spirit Commercial”). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing’s three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial’s core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminum manufacturing solutions.

Responsibilities

The Role:

We are seeking a dedicated professional to join The Boeing Company in the Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) team within the Boeing Commercial Airplanes (BCA) division. This role is critical in ensuring the health and safety of our workforce while promoting environmental stewardship at the Boeing Tulsa Site. The ideal candidate will be responsible for developing and implementing EHS programs that align with regulatory requirements and industry best practices, fostering a culture of safety and sustainability. By collaborating with cross-functional teams, the successful applicant will help drive initiatives that minimize environmental impact and enhance workplace safety, contributing to Boeing's commitment to a sustainable future in aviation.

 

Position Responsibilities:

  • Develops, implements and monitors occupational health and safety programs and processes
  • Drive thorough investigations for all incidents and accidents, develop effective root cause analysis and countermeasures, and ensure timely completion of corrective actions.
  • Develops and provides training and instructions
  • Evaluates the impact of emerging issues, regulations and legislation to company operations
  • Develops corrective action plan to respond to internal/external audits and inspections
  • Plans and conduct health and safety audits
Qualifications

Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience):

  • 5+ years of experience working in Environmental Health and Safety (EHS)
  • 5+ years of experience performing health and safety risk assessments, developing and managing safety programs, and performing audits
  • Experience developing and implementing process improvements 
  • Shift will be variable including availability on evenings and weekends

Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience):

  • Bachelor’s degree in occupational safety, environmental science or related disciplines or equivalent subject matter knowledge skills and abilities acquired through work.
  • Associate Safety Professional, Certified Safety Professional, or Certified Industrial Hygienist certification, or other professional certification.
  • Applied knowledge in health and safety disciplines including Hazard Communication, LOTO, Confined Space, Electrical Safety, Fall Protection, Incident Investigation, Ergonomics, Behavioral Based Safety, Machine Guarding and Lean Manufacturing
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Understanding of ISO 45001

Essential Duties and Physical Demands:

  • Ability to walk/stand frequently per shift
  • Ability to climb limited per shift
  • Ability to sit frequently per shift
  • Ability to lift/carry and push/pull up to 50 lbs.
