Full Job Description
The Microsoft Portfolio Owner is responsible for the overall health, performance, and strategic direction of HDR's Microsoft technology portfolio. This role drives portfolio governance, planning, investment alignment, and value realization while serving as the primary liaison among business stakeholders, technology teams, Product Owners, and service providers.
Primary Responsibilities
In the role of Microsoft Portfolio Owner, we'll count on you to:
Lead the strategic planning, governance, and performance management of the Microsoft technology portfolio.
Develop and maintain portfolio roadmaps, priorities, investments, and multi-year plans aligned with business and technology strategies.
Facilitate portfolio reviews and provide recommendations related to performance, risks, dependencies, and business outcomes.
Establish, monitor, and report on portfolio KPIs, health metrics, financials, and value realization.
Partner with Product Managers, Product Owners, technology teams, and business stakeholders to align priorities and delivery plans.
Balance portfolio demand, capacity, funding, and resource considerations to optimize delivery and outcomes.
Lead portfolio intake, prioritization, and decision-making processes.
Promote consistent portfolio and product management practices across the Microsoft ecosystem.
Serve as a trusted advisor to business leaders and key stakeholders regarding portfolio strategy and investments.
Manage relationships with internal and external service providers, including performance expectations, service delivery, and operational alignment.
Ensure clear communication and transparency across stakeholders through dashboards, roadmaps, executive updates, and governance reporting.
Foster collaboration among business, engineering, product, and support teams to support successful portfolio execution.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience leading technology portfolios, platforms, or enterprise application ecosystems.
Experience with portfolio governance, roadmapping, strategic planning, and investment prioritization.
Experience managing Microsoft-focused technology portfolios, including Microsoft 365, Azure, identity, collaboration, or infrastructure platforms.
Experience supporting executive governance processes, business reviews, and investment decision forums.
Experience balancing portfolio demand, funding, capacity planning, and resource allocation.
Experience managing vendor and service provider relationships, including performance management and service delivery oversight.
Familiarity with financial planning, portfolio metrics, KPI development, and value realization tracking.
Solid understanding of project, program, product, and portfolio management practices.
Ability to translate business strategy into actionable plans and measurable outcomes.
Experience supporting adoption, operationalization, and governance of Microsoft AI technologies.
Professional certifications or training in portfolio, program, product, or service management (e.g., PMP, SAFe, ITIL, or similar).

Qualifications
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or closely related field, or combination of education and relevant experience
- A minimum of 10 years IT experience, including management of multiple concurrent projects, a minimum of 5 years experience in managing and developing staff, with direct reporting relationships
- Experience in working with business users to establish priorities and manage expectations
- Excellent client service, interpersonal and communication skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills and capable of performing tasks in a dynamic environment many times working under tight delivery schedules
- Engineering and/or Construction background a plus
