Full Job Description
Responsibilities

  • Performs inspections and evaluations of existing conditions for various electrical equipment and systems for proper installation, problem identification/ trouble shooting, and overall improvements.
  • Ensures system event assessments and RCA are performed for equipment failures and implements corrective actions, confirming proper mitigation plans are in place.
  • Prepares thorough and accurate technical reports, correspondence, documentation, calculations, and design plans related to projects and analysis of increasing scope and complexity.
  • Conducts independent engineering work, receiving guidance on the evaluation, selection, application and adaptation of engineering techniques, procedures, and criteria.
  • Performs power system modeling and analyses utilizing software tools and applications; stays informed of technology advancements, market trends, and relevant guidelines and standards related to energy technology.
  • Ensures the performance of day-to-day preventive maintenance activities to maintain equipment and ensure continued operation according to required standards including Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE) and Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) quality and environmental and reliability standards.
  • Helps ensure infrastructure's supporting processes are validated/qualified throughout their life cycle.
  • Develops the engineering facility design, including but not limited to electrical system design, such as sizing, creating one-line diagrams, and selecting equipment.
  • Assists in the development of new technology and standards strategy and the implementation of strategies into business operations to improve power system functionality and quality of service to customers.
  • Acts as project sponsors with some technical assistance when responding to technical questions requiring project modification to move projects through their lifecycle.
  • A material job duty of all positions within the Company is ensuring the protection of all its physical, financial and cybersecurity assets, and properly accessing and managing private customer data, proprietary information, confidential medical records, and other types of highly sensitive information and data with the highest standards of conduct and integrity.


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or Bachelor's Degree in a scientific/technical/math field.
  • Two or more years of experience performing engineering work in operations, production, construction or maintenance environments.
  • Possess a valid Class C Driver's License.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in supporting engineering design and integration of microgrid controller systems (MCS) with Grid Management Systems such as Advanced Distribution Management System [ADMS] and Distributed Energy Resource Management System [DERMS] platforms.
  • Experience with developing control system logic using energy storage, solar and generators including operations and maintenance displays, optimization and fail safety.
  • Strong understanding of DERMS and DER communications/protocols (2030.5, DNP3, Modbus, etc ).
  • Strong understanding and technical capability to deliver advanced technology demonstration projects from concept to field deployment.
  • Familiarity with IEEE 2030.5 CSIP, SCE Rule 21, UL3141 and inverter-based resource management.
  • Experience executing projects that focus on the customer(s) through design thinking, incorporating feedback and developing agreement among stakeholders to maximize project success and technology transfer.
  • Knowledge of modeling power systems especially using PSCAD [SIL] and RTDS [HIL].
  • Experience working hands on in lab environment for instrumentation, testing and validation of energy storage, generators, microgrids or similar systems.
  • Experience in supporting or leading field deployments and construction of energy storage, generation or microgrid systems.
  • Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills.


Additional Information
  • This position's work mode is hybrid. The employee will report to an SCE facility for a set number of days with the option to work remotely on the remaining days. Unless otherwise noted, employees are required to work and reside in the state of California. Further details of this work mode will be discussed at the interview stage. The work mode can be changed based on business needs.

Once hired, the candidate must complete specified training prior to gaining un-escorted access to assigned work location and performing necessary job duties.
