Job DescriptionWe are looking for an Engineering Manager to lead BAE Systems Space & Missions System (SMS) Grating Technology Center (GTC). You will be responsible for the maintenance, operation, and growth of the optical manufacturing product line. You will be a key contributor to E/O payloads, the Optical Engineering department, and the Engineering, Science, and Analysis (ESA) Strategic Capabilities Unit.
What You'll Do:- Manage the manufacturing area responsible for providing flight gratings
- Maintain the existing product line, including incorporating continuous improvement to the process
- Collaborate with Optical Architects and Capture Managers to meet future and next generation payload designs
- Own and implement the technology roadmap to increase the capabilities of manufacturing technology
- Manage the GTC budget, schedule, and staff
- Participate in design reviews, presenting findings, and provide input to ensure successful project outcomes.
- Contribute to proposal development, respond to RFIs, and participate is program lifecycle reviews
- Maintain a regular and predictable work schedule.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships within the department, the Strategic Business Units, Strategic Capabilities Units and the Company. Interact appropriately with others in order to maintain a positive and productive work environment.
- Perform other duties as necessary.
On-Site Work Environment: This position requires regular in-person engagement by working
on-site five days each normally scheduled week in the primary work location. Travel and local commute between company campuses and other possible non-company locations may be required.
Working Conditions: - Work is performed in an office, laboratory, production floor, or cleanroom, outdoors or remote research environment.
- May occasionally work in production work centers where use of protective equipment and gear is required.
- May access other facilities in various weather conditions.
Required Skills and Education- BS degree or higher in Engineering or a related technical field is required plus 8 or more years related experience.
- Each higher-level degree, i.e., Master's Degree or Ph.D., may substitute for two years of experience. Related technical experience may be considered in lieu of education. Degree must be from a university, college, or school which is accredited by an agency recognized by the US Secretary of Education, US Department of Education.
- A current, active Top Secret/SCI security clearance is required.

- Presentation skills to formally present information and communicate effectively with Program Management, Executive Leadership, and Customers.

Preferred Skills and Education- Mastery of 2 of the following engineering disciplines: Mechanical/Mechanisms, Optical, Controls, Electrical, and Materials and Processes.
- 5 years or more of payload hardware Assembly, Integration, and Test.
- Experience mentoring engineers at all experience levels.
- Track record of career growth for Engineers and Technicians.
- Master of Business Administration.
