Job Description

BAE Systems Maritime Solutions is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Strategic Communications Manager to lead our communications efforts and drive strategic messaging across various channels. As a key member of our communications team, you'll develop and implement comprehensive communications strategies that showcase our company's expertise, products, services, and workforce. This role is for someone with 8+ years of relevant communications experience, with a proven track record of success in strategic campaigns, media relations, internal communications and executive messaging.

Responsibilities:
  • Strategize, develop and execute internal and public relations communications strategies and frameworks that align with company goals and objectives
  • Create and disseminate key messages, press releases, and other communications materials to various audiences, including media, customers, and employees
  • Manage and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including media, influencers, and industry partners
  • Develop crisis communications plans and protect overall public relations posture of the organization
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to partner functions in support of major organizational objectives, to include management, human resources, and business development
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including safety, health & environment, marketing, government relations, business development, and product management, to ensure consistent messaging and branding
  • Analyze and report on communications metrics and performance


Required Skills and Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Business, Journalism, or a related field
  • Experience in communications, public relations, or a related field
  • Leader who works effectively with others, under tight timelines, with extreme attention to detail, and is able to balance competing priorities
  • Proven track record of developing and executing successful communications strategies to reach internal and external audiences
  • Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex content clearly
  • Strong media relations skills and experience working with journalists
  • Experience with crisis communications and reputation management
  • Experience serving as an advisor to senior executive leadership
  • Proven success in written executive communications, thought leadership, and capturing "executive voice" for leaders
  • Strong planning and project management experience
  • Experience with social media management and content creation
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines


Preferred Skills and Education

  • Master's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, or a related field
  • Familiarity with U.S. Navy, defense and aerospace industry trends and issues is a bonus
