Salary Range: $91,000.00 to $114,000.00

The anticipated salary range represents the estimated base pay for this role. Final compensation will be determined based on experience, qualifications, and other job-related factors, and may vary from the posted range

The Role

Designs major components or major portions of a functional system to develop or improve products and facilitate manufacturing operations. Develops basic data and makes preliminary layouts, sketches, and notes necessary to present design proposal. Investigates pertinent design factors such as ease of manufacture, availability of materials and equipment, interchangeability, replace ability, strength-weight efficiency, and contractual specification requirements and cost. Coordinates with other organizations affected by design development. Makes layouts of complex assemblies and details parts of devices, mechanisms, and structures. Checks completed layouts and drawings for clarity, completeness, conformity to standards, procedures, specifications, and accuracy of calculations and dimensioning. Identifies design errors, omissions, and other deficiencies, and recommends revisions and/or improvements in design layout to responsible engineers or designers.

This supervisory position is intended for the E79 Data Administration group. The incumbent will be responsible for leading, managing, monitoring and maintaining a team of 10-15 members. The incumbent will ensure team members are trained in accordance with the requirements of NNS Procedure E-626 and efficiently utilize approved best practices. The incumbent will seek out opportunities to streamline processes and introduce automations to reduce cost and improve quality. The incumbent will be responsible for measuring the team's performance and produce metric data that supports continuous improvement. This position regularly communicates with the Engineering and Planning value stream members across multiple NNS departments via e-mail, phone and in-person meetings.

Must Have

Design Apprentice certification or Associate's degree in Design with 6 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience;

Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline plus 4 years of applicable, progressive professional and/or supervisory work experience;

or a Master's degree in a relevant discipline and 2 years of applicable experience.

Nice to Have

  • Strong leadership skills
  • Extensive knowledge of Teamcenter
  • Knowledge of CVN carriers, CLB submarines and VCS submarines is desireable, must be able to support multiple contracts simultaneously
  • Experience with configuration management of data files and a thorough understanding of revision contol
  • Experience with change management and Teamcenter work flows
  • Good organizational skills and the ability to prioritize work assignments
  • Knowledge of the Earned Value Management System (EVMS) and work progressing
  • Good employee engagement skills, crucial conversation skills, and motivational skills
