Responsibilities

  • Partner with corporate trainers to design on-the-job training methods for plant employees.
  • Obtain and maintain instructor training in critical areas, such as orientation and hot popper training.
  • Coach OJT trainers in effective adult learning techniques.
  • Ensure instructional materials align with operational standards and are easily accessible.
  • Revise or create training materials and job aids as necessary.
  • Collaborate with Process Technicians and Subject Matter Experts for job task analysis.
  • Maintain metrics and reports on OJT progress.
  • Coordinate instructor assignments with HR and hiring managers.
  • Support OJT trainers by addressing underperformance and certifying proficient operators.
  • Identify training needs to promote production goals.
  • Assist in using the Learning Management System to track training initiatives.

Full Job Description
  • Reports to: General Manager
  • Shift: Monday - Friday 8AM - 5pm (May require work on alternate shifts, evenings, or weekends)
  • Salary Range: $115K - $135K

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Partnering with corporate trainers to help structure on the job training methodology for plant level employees.
  • Acquire/maintain necessary training in critical areas to provide backup as instructor as needed (e.g., orientation, hot popper training, CI training).
  • Provide coaching and support to OJT trainers in adult learning approaches.
  • Ensure trainer materials are available, accessible, current, and up to date, aligning with work processes, SOPs, certification standards, and other operational standards.
  • Create or revise instructional materials, job aids and other supporting material as necessary.
  • Work with Process Tech and Subject Matter Experts to complete job task analysis to create accurate instructional materials.
  • Maintain and issue OJT metrics and reports.
  • Coordinate with hiring managers and HR to match new hires with OJT instructors.
  • Intervene and coach supervisors when direct reports do not meet learning goals or certification levels. Support OJT trainers to ensure effective documentation on learning progress and award certifications are issued to operators who have demonstrated the defined proficiency.
  • Identify training needs in production areas to support goal attainment.
  • Produce plant level metrics on training efforts.
  • Assist in use of Learning Management System (LMS) on a plant level to record training initiative. Acting as a super user of the LMS.
  • Provide local support of corporate training initiatives.

Physical Requirements:
  • General office environment with majority of time using computer; prolonged periods of sitting
  • Regular exposure to plant floor, including noise, dust and variation in temperature (hot/cold)

Safety, Quality and Hygiene Requirements:
  • Maintain compliance with all company policies, procedures and code of conduct
  • Comply with workplace uniform requirements and safety gear, when on the plant floor v. office

Skills and Work Experience Requirements:
  • 3 to 5 years' experience in manufacturing setting required.
  • Computer proficient, MS Office, MS PowerPoint, SharePoint, MS Word, MS Excel, use of tablet computer, Cornerstone on Demand LMS, or similar LMS.
  • Advanced organizational skills with ability to handle multiple assignments and strong communication skills
  • Proven work experience as a training coordinator, trainer, training facilitator. Familiarity with traditional and modern job training methods and techniques.
  • Experience in production environment, familiarity with machine operation and the processes of chocolate manufacturing (a plus, but not necessary), warehousing and shipping

Education:
  • Bachelor's degree in Education, Training or related field or equivalent experience.
  • Certified in Structured OJT Approach
