Job title: Metrology Planner

Location: Swiftwater, PA

Role Overview:

The Metrology team Leader / Planner is responsible for leading and supporting

the Metrology technician team. Supporting the calibration, design, installation, maintenance, troubleshooting and repair of the instruments, controls and related systems typical to the manufacture of vaccines in order to maintain a GMP-compliant site. The Team Lead will also participate in the development and implementation of the site training program for Instrument Technicians and will provide guidance to technicians in the field. Metrology scheduling support and parts procurement will be within the responsibilities of this position. This position reports to and supports the scheduling manager of Metrology who is ultimately responsible to maintain current calibration of and ensure the efficient, effective and reliable operation of all instruments on site. This position will have interactions with Maintenance, Health, Safety & Environment (HSE), Engineering, Outside Contractors/Consultants, Instrument/Equipment Manufacturers, Industrial Operations and Research & Development departments.

Main Responsibilities:

1. In field calibrations and technician support
  • Calibration, installation, trouble-shooting and repair of temperature, pressure, speed, level, conductivity, pH, chlorine, dissolved oxygen, and turbidity measurement, control and recording systems.
  • Proper handling and use of required standards and tools
  • Instrument/machine/PLC interface and associated protocols
  • Basic electrical control systems
  • Basic electronics
  • Industrial safety programs including Lockout/Tagout (LOTO)
  • CMMS systems to record and track calibrations and repairs (SAP preferred)
  • ISA or equivalent certification (preferred)


2. Planning and scheduling support
  • Group upcoming instrument calibrations into Indy Soft/SAP work orders
  • Create and implement a schedule (as per Scheduling Manager)
  • Coordinate and communicate all site technician calibration activities for assigned area(s) with end users, technicians and other stake holders
  • Work with Manager Maintenance Coordination when necessary to coordinate (not schedule) vendor calibrations that overlap with site technician calibration activities
  • Monitor radio channel 3 and respond to instrument emergencies
  • Process SAP work orders - convert notifications, neatly file, schedule, and issue
  • Ensure that scheduled work is ready to go-parts, standards, special tools, permits, LOTO, SPA, site preparation and clearance with area
  • Provide or coordinate technical assistance
  • Provide or coordinate technician training
  • Create parts requests and request SAP MM's as needed
  • Attend scheduling/shutdown meetings for areas of responsibility as necessary
  • Coordinate, schedule and set up calibration support for shutdowns and small projects


About You

Basic Qualifications:
  • Minimum of Eight (8) years' experience in the instrument trade, related pharmaceutical/industrial experience, or a combination of related experience and education/military service required. Understanding of instruments, controls and related system.
  • High School Diploma or GED is required.
  • Working knowledge of IndySoft, SAP, Microsoft Office and iLearn
  • Scheduling and coordinating calibration, maintenance or production activities


Preferred Qualifications:
  • Pharmaceutical or Biotech experience
  • Understanding of vaccine manufacturing processes

The salary range for this position is:
$36.81 - $49.08
