Summary

The Metadata Analyst assists in the implementation and maintenance of metadata and data catalog solutions, supporting the integration of structured and unstructured data sources across various platforms. The analyst helps apply metadata standards, taxonomies, and governance policies, and supports efforts to align metadata practices with organizational data strategy and regulatory requirements.

This position focuses on helping build and update metadata catalogs that improve search, discovery, and trust in data assets, making it easier for stakeholders to access and use data for business decision-making and compliance. The Metadata Analyst participates in technology assessments, learns about metadata management tools, and supports trade-off analyses under supervision to help select and implement effective solutions.

Collaboration is important in this role. The Metadata Analyst works with data stewards, business stakeholders, IT teams, and leadership to support metadata initiatives, ensuring clear communication about metadata practices and goals. The analyst contributes to business strategies and governance standards by providing input and supporting enterprise-wide data management outcomes.

In addition to developing technical skills, the Metadata Analyst is encouraged to learn from and support cross-functional teams in adopting metadata best practices. The role may also involve assisting with training and knowledge sharing, helping foster a culture of data-driven decision-making and continuous improvement.

How You'll Spend Your Time

  • You will assist in developing metadata strategies for structured and unstructured data aligned with the overall data strategy.
  • You will implement and maintain metadata catalogs, including business, technical, and operational metadata.
  • You will ensure adherence to metadata standards, taxonomies, and governance policies.
  • You will participate in technology assessments and support evaluation of metadata management tools.
  • You will help create automated solutions for ingesting and maintaining metadata efficiently.
  • You will collaborate with data stewards and architects to maintain metadata quality and consistency.


Education & Experience Requirements

The required level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Data Analytics or a related field and 4 years' experience in data management, metadata governance, or enterprise data architecture. Experience within the financial services industry is preferred.
  • Strong understanding and experience with metadata tools, data catalogs, and lineage platforms.
  • Understanding of AI frameworks and automation concepts.
  • Experience with data contracts, data quality, and governance frameworks.
  • Well-developed oral and written communication skills to effectively represent self and BOKF, as well as ability to present complex information and issues in a clear and concise manner
  • Strong organizational skills with ability to persist through ambiguity and move ahead regardless of barriers
  • Ability to effectively plan time, method, manner and sequence of own work assignments and assignments of others while balancing the conflicting demands of stakeholders
