Job Summary
The On Site MES IT Coordinator serves as the primary site-level IT and MES liaison responsible for coordinating Manufacturing Execution System (MES) implementations, deployments, and ongoing operational support across manufacturing facilities. This role acts as the key interface between site operations, Quality, MSAT, Validation, IT/OT teams, Global MES organizations, vendors, system integrators, and offshore development teams. The successful candidate will drive MES programs from project initiation through deployment and operational support while leading digital manufacturing and automation initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, compliance, connectivity, and data visibility.
Key Responsibilities
• Serve as the primary site-level IT coordinator and governance lead for MES implementation and support activities.
• Act as the central point of communication between site stakeholders, Global MES teams, vendors, system integrators, and offshore delivery teams.
• Coordinate all phases of the MES lifecycle, including requirements gathering, solution design, configuration, testing, validation support, training, go-live, hypercare, and operational support.
• Track and manage project actions, risks, issues, dependencies, decisions, and site readiness activities.
• Facilitate technical and functional workshops between business users and MES delivery teams.
• Drive alignment between local manufacturing processes and enterprise MES standards and templates.
• Support business process reengineering initiatives to improve manufacturing execution and operational efficiency.
• Gather, analyze, and document business requirements, process gaps, user needs, and operational constraints.
• Translate business requirements into functional and technical specifications.
• Coordinate site readiness activities, including infrastructure readiness, user access management, shop-floor devices, barcode scanners, label printers, operator terminals, system interfaces, and network connectivity.
• Coordinate testing activities, issue resolution, user participation, and closure of testing actions.
• Support training preparation, execution, and user adoption initiatives.
• Lead automation and digital manufacturing projects from concept through deployment and operational adoption.
• Coordinate technical delivery across MES, SCADA, DCS, historian, and industrial connectivity platforms.
• Design and support secure, scalable, and reliable shop-floor data collection architectures.
• Support Industry 4.0, Connected Plant, and Digital Manufacturing initiatives.
• Coordinate MES documentation, including SOPs, work instructions, user guides, training materials, and support documentation.
• Partner with Quality and Validation teams to support Computer System Validation (CSV) activities and compliance requirements.
• Ensure MES solutions comply with applicable regulatory, quality, data integrity, and cybersecurity standards.
• Manage site-level governance activities, including demand management, change requests, incident management, problem management, prioritization, and escalation.
• Coordinate L2 and L3 MES support activities following implementation.
• Identify process improvement opportunities, recurring issues, and training gaps.
• Manage relationships with operations, quality, validation, IT/OT, infrastructure, Global MES teams, vendors, and system integrators.
• Support change management initiatives and drive adoption of digital manufacturing solutions.
Required Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Technology, Life Sciences, Automation Engineering, or a related discipline.
• 8+ years of experience supporting MES implementations or manufacturing IT projects within regulated manufacturing environments.
• 5+ years of experience coordinating cross-functional teams during system deployments, upgrades, and operational support activities.
• 5+ years of experience supporting manufacturing operations and shop-floor systems.
• 5+ years of experience working with global teams, vendors, system integrators, and offshore delivery organizations.
• Strong understanding of Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES) and manufacturing operations.
• Hands-on or functional experience with MES platforms such as Rockwell MES, Werum PAS-X, Siemens Opcenter, PharmaSuite, or MasterControl.
• Experience supporting MES integrations with ERP systems, LIMS, automation platforms, barcode systems, labeling systems, analytics platforms, and shop-floor devices.
• Knowledge of SCADA, DCS, OPC, historian technologies, and industrial connectivity solutions.
• Understanding of manufacturing infrastructure, user access management, and operational support processes.
• Experience with requirements gathering, business process analysis, and process improvement initiatives.
• Strong project coordination, stakeholder management, risk management, issue management, and change management skills.
• Experience supporting training coordination and user adoption activities.
• Excellent communication, facilitation, interpersonal, and relationship management skills.
• Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving capabilities.
• Ability to work effectively in fast-paced manufacturing environments.
• Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliverables.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, life sciences, or other regulated manufacturing industries.
• Experience supporting Computer System Validation (CSV) activities.
• Knowledge of GMP, GAMP 5, Annex 11, Annex 22, 21 CFR Part 11, and data integrity requirements.
• Experience supporting Industry 4.0, Connected Plant, Smart Factory, or Digital Manufacturing initiatives.
• Experience supporting multi-site MES deployments and global manufacturing programs.
• Experience with manufacturing automation platforms, industrial data collection systems, and plant connectivity technologies.
• Knowledge of cybersecurity best practices within manufacturing environments.
Travel Requirements
• Willingness and ability to travel extensively (50% or more) to manufacturing sites globally for project delivery, system deployment, training, commissioning, and operational support activities.
