Qualifications

• Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, or Social Work from an accredited institution.
• State license as a Clinical Social Worker or Mental Health Counselor; licensed interns may apply under certain conditions.
• Minimum of one year of experience in mental health services within an institutional setting preferred.
• Strong counseling and motivational skills essential for effective patient engagement.
• Ability to handle crisis situations in a professional manner is required.
• Proficient verbal and written communication skills necessary for documentation and reporting.

Responsibilities

• Conduct mental health interviews, screenings, and evaluations to tailor treatment plans for clients.
• Provide brief individual counseling and lead various group counseling sessions, including anger management and coping skills.
• Ensure continuity of care by delivering case management services.
• Prepare and maintain mental health documentation, adhering to organizational and state standards.
• Collaborate with Security, Medical, and Classification departments as needed for comprehensive care.
• Respond to psychological emergencies, offering crisis intervention and handling involuntary hospitalizations when necessary.
• Coordinate post-release planning and liaise with community mental health facilities for follow-up care.
