SCHEDULE: 40 Hours Per Week
FACILITY: Southern NM CF
LOCATION: Las Cruces, NM
Position Summary As a Mental Health Nurse Practitioner/Physician Assistant at our facility, you'll be the cornerstone of psychiatric care for a unique and often underserved population. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary treatment team, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting psychiatric evaluations and mental status exams
- Prescribing and monitoring psychotropic medications in line with best practices
- Providing psychoeducational counseling on medication and wellness
- Performing AIMS and metabolic assessments; reviewing and interpreting labs
- Diagnosing mental illness using DSM criteria and developing evidence-based treatment plans
- Initiating crisis interventions, including Crisis Watch placement and use of restraints per policy
- Supervising, guiding, and training healthcare staff involved in mental health service delivery
- Making clinical rounds across the infirmary, segregation units, and housing areas
- Ensuring medication compliance, continuity of care, and proper documentation
- Advocating for patient-centered care in a secure, structured environment

What You'll Need - Graduate from an accredited NP or PA program.
- Active unrestricted Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant license in state of practice.
- Active applicable Controlled Substance Registration/License/Certification in state of practice.
- Active DEA license required.
- Active CPR certification required.
- Experience in psychiatric diagnosis and medication management (Correctional experience preferred).
- Strong clinical judgement, emotional resilience, and a patient-focused mindset.
