Job Description

Cape Fox Concentric Methods is accepting resumes for a Medical Laboratory Scientist (MLS) to support the Air Force Facility at Nellis Air Force Base in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The salary range (or hiring range) for this exempt position has been established at: $90,000.00 - $ 94,000.00. This salary range represents the company's good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting. In addition, we offer a variety of benefits including company holidays, paid time off, health insurance, dental insurance, vision insurance, life and disability insurance, tuition reimbursement, as well as 401K with company match. This job will be posted until filled or withdrawn.

Responsibilities
  • Perform a full range of clinical laboratory tests in any one or a combination of the following sections of the laboratory: hematology, chemistry, cytology, histotechnology, urinalysis, serology, microbiology bacteriology, and immunohematology.
  • Collect specimens and analyze the best method for drawing blood samples from patients, ranging in age from infant to geriatric with varying health statuses. The standard is 10 patients per hour.
  • Determine the suitability of specimens for analysis. Prepare specimens for analysis and ensure that the physiologic state of the properties is maintained.
  • Prepare reagents and primary reference materials as necessary.
  • Calibrate, standardize, adjust, and maintain instruments.
  • Verify correct instrument operation using established procedures and quality control checks. Identify the cause of common problems and make simple repairs.
  • Recognize and react to indicators of malfunction. Locate and implement corrections.
  • Obtain analytical data, convert to a prescribed unit of reporting, as necessary, and correlate data to verify results.
  • Manage operations in assigned department.
  • Oversees and guides Medical Laboratory Technicians.
  • Train designated staff on all facets of laboratory operations as required.
  • Conduct quality control procedures on equipment, reagents and products and maintain proper records for quality control and quality assurance reports.
  • Check-in, document, order, and maintain appropriate electronic medical information that support the hard copy medical record by utilizing the approved Laboratory Information System.
  • Elevate concerns to lab management.
  • Adhere to all local, state, national and federal safety and accreditation procedures.

Schedule Sunday - Saturday with 8-10 hour shifts between the hours of 0001 and 2400. Shifts are normally scheduled for a 9-hour period, to include an uncompensated 60-minute lunch break. Normal shifts are Monday to Friday, The Medical Laboratory Scientist may work on weekends. In no instance will they be required to provide services exceeding 40 scheduled hours per week.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in science. Graduate from a military or civilian medical laboratory science program accredited by the National Accrediting Agency for Clinical Laboratory Sciences (NAACLS) or the Accrediting Bureau of Health Education Schools (ABHES), American Society of Clinical Pathologist (ASCP) or educational program acceptable to the American Medical Technologist (AMT).
  • Certification/registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist determined by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or AMT.
  • Board Certification: MLS or MT (certified)
  • BLS certification
  • One year of experience as a MLS
  • Computer skills including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must have authorization to work in the United States as defined by the Immigration Reform Act of 1986.
