Must-Have:
- Associate Degree or completion of a U.S. Military 50-week course leading to the specialty of Medical Laboratory Specialist or equivalent role.
- ASCP MLT certification or equivalent, OR Bachelor's Degree in a Science field with applicable clinical experience.
- MLT with ASCP, AMT, or equivalent certification required within 6 months of hire.

Description:
Responsible for performance of all levels of general testing within the analytical laboratory.
Provides a high level of technical knowledge and application of that knowledge to department testing and clinical relevance.
Consistently functions in a self-directed manner and exhibits complex problem-solving skills.
Maintains a safe and clean working environment.
Follows laboratory, hospital, and regulatory agency policies, procedures, and guidelines.
Performs cytogenetic testing with a high level of competency according to established protocols.
Generates and reports results which are used for making accurate diagnoses and prognoses that influence patient care and management.
Performs job duties in an efficient and organized manner within the required timeframe.
Actively seeks to promote and help maintain a positive, team-oriented and service-conscious environment.
Demonstrates knowledge and competency of laboratory computer systems.
Responsible for accurate and timely result reporting, including communication and documentation of critical results.
Utilizes critical thinking skills and exercises independent judgment to correlate and interpret data.
Compiles and reviews LIS reports to ensure all samples are collected, processed, and tested in the appropriate timeframe.
Assists with the resolution of unusual test orders by following up with care providers and reference labs.
Actively participates in new associate and student training and orientation.
May be assigned lead responsibilities in various areas.
Participates in inspections and may be required to participate in laboratory and/or hospital projects, teams, or committees.
Attends department, laboratory, and hospital meetings and forums.
Responsible for operation, maintenance, troubleshooting of instruments and appropriate documentation of activities.
Completes required quality control and maintenance, consistently recognizing variances and documenting appropriate corrective action.
Participates in detecting and documenting occurrences that deviate from defined procedures.
Acknowledges receipt of specimens in the laboratory information system.
Receives specimens, assesses priority, assures appropriate specimen identification, and appropriate specimen type.
May include ordering and processing of hospital registered and outreach patients.
Centrifuges, aliquots, and distributes samples to the appropriate testing area.
Prepares samples for off-site testing, including assessing appropriate sample type, container, and temperature.
Completes related paperwork and/or computer documentation.
Packages samples for courier transport to off-site testing locations.
Acts as a steward of finances through appropriate uses of supplies, materials, and productive activities.
Adheres to assigned schedule while responding to workload demands and staffing needs by maintaining flexibility.
Recognizes and provides input for opportunities to improve productivity, lab workflow, supply management, and cost containment.
Serves as a liaison with other laboratory departments and services.
Floating may be required to any location within a specified distance of the original assignment.
Float assignments may include duties outside of original assignment job requirements in accordance with policy.
