About the Role

We are seeking is to add an exceptional Medical Director of Adult Behavioral Health to our growing multidisciplinary team. Psychiatrists interested in leading an Outpatient behavioral health division with a passion for excellence in patient care and dedication for underserved populations should apply. This individual will set standards of psychiatric care and serve as a member of the Senior Leadership of BH Department and will represent Adult Behavioral Health Division as well as CS-HHC in the community agencies, boards, and other professional activities. BH Services include: Adult Mental Health and Counseling Services, Addiction Services including MAT, Child and Family Guidance, Inpatient Detox, and Geriatric Psychiatric services.

Key Responsibilities

  • Reviews and evaluates clinical aspects of ongoing programs working cooperatively with CMO.
  • Contributes to design and evaluation of an integrated BHD, which is established upon principles of respectful client care, quality assurance, standards of practice, and positive treatment outcomes
  • Reviews and revises clinical policies to ensure compliance and accountability to internal and external authorities, (e.g., Joint Commission, CS-HHC Board, DMHAS, DPH,)
  • Provides input to designing and implementing Performance Improvement plans, maintains quality of care and client satisfaction ratings
  • Reviews treatment plans for appropriate/effective/quality care
  • Provides direct client services. Ensures integrated continuum of services and demonstrates ethical and professional conduct at all times
  • Perform evaluations, crisis intervention, individual, group, family therapy and/or medication management as needed
  • Evaluates data relating to the bio-psychosocial consequences of physical and emotional illness, disability and/or substance abuse as required
  • Supervises APRN's/clinical staff assigned by CMO.


Required Qualifications

Education: M.D. Licensed in State of Connecticut to provide psychiatric services. Must be Board certified in psychiatry.

Experience: Must demonstrate experience in adult MH and SA behavioral health services (applicable for Adult BH Services). Experience with multiple levels of care preferred. Supervisory/Administrative experience preferred.

Knowledge/Abilities: Demonstrates leadership, and ability to train other professionals. Ability to assist in management of related administrative activities. Familiarity with Joint Commission and other regulatory standards is helpful. Must demonstrate age specific/population specific competencies in area(s) of practice. Ability to generate high levels of client satisfaction. Knowledge and skills related to assessment and treatment intervention for MH, SA and co-disordered populations. Knowledge and skills related to medication management.
