Employment Type: Full-TimePosition SummaryUnder the supervision of the Chief Medical Officer, the Medical Director is responsible for the provision of care and coordination of the daily activities of the various medical disciplines within a Unity Health Care Health Center. The Medical Director serves as a liaison between Unity Health Care and the community and is responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality, safe medical services at the assigned clinical site, including supervision of all providers working at the designated location.
The Medical Director supports the health center and organization in achieving the quadruple aim: improving health outcomes, enhancing patient experience, supporting care team well-being, and ensuring financial sustainability.
Key Responsibilities- Provide direct patient care and serve as a clinical leader and role model.
- Supervise providers to ensure safe, high-quality care and compliance with organizational policies and procedures.
- Lead quality improvement initiatives and utilize clinical data to improve health outcomes.
- Manage provider peer review processes and support ongoing professional development.
- Review patient experience data and implement strategies to improve patient satisfaction and engagement.
- Investigate patient concerns and collaborate with leadership to address quality-of-care issues.
- Recruit, hire, onboard, mentor, and evaluate providers.
- Collaborate with Health Center Directors and Nurse Managers to optimize clinic workflows, patient access, and operational efficiency.
- Coordinate provider schedules, leave requests, and coverage needs.
- Foster a collaborative culture that promotes provider wellness, engagement, and professional growth.
- Monitor site productivity, provider capacity, scheduling templates, and staffing needs.
- Participate in site leadership meetings, Medical Director meetings, quality improvement initiatives, and organizational committees.
Minimum Qualifications- Must have a current DC License, CDS and DEA (registered in DC) registrations, or NP license.
- Graduate of an accredited Medical School and Residency Program.
- Board eligible or board certified in area of specialty.
- Two (2) years of experience in an ambulatory care setting, with some contact with homeless patients preferred.
- Managerial experience in a healthcare setting preferred.
- Must be willing to accept "on call" duties on a regular rotation.
