The Brown University Health Cardiovascular Institute, part of the faculty practice program for the Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University, is seeking an experienced advanced heart failure cardiologist to serve as
Medical Director of Advanced Heart Failure. This academic leadership position offers an opportunity to lead and expand a comprehensive, multidisciplinary advanced heart failure program across the Brown University Health system, including mechanical circulatory support and collaboration with a regional heart transplant center. The successful candidate will provide clinical and strategic leadership to advance patient care, program development, education, and research.
About the position:- Provide clinical and strategic leadership for the advanced heart failure program, ensuring high-quality, evidence-based care for patients with complex and advanced heart failure.
- Lead the growth and coordination of mechanical circulatory support services, including durable LVAD therapy and temporary mechanical circulatory support for cardiogenic shock.
- Collaborate with a robust cardiothoracic surgery program and regional heart transplant center to provide coordinated care for patients requiring advanced therapies.
- Work with clinical and administrative leadership to expand program capacity, strengthen regional referral networks, improve patient access, and optimize clinical outcomes.
- Lead multidisciplinary teams in developing clinical pathways, quality improvement initiatives, and innovative approaches to advanced heart failure management.
- Coordinate education and mentorship of medical students, residents, cardiology fellows, and multidisciplinary clinical staff.
- Lead clinical trials, collaborative research, quality improvement, and scholarly activities in heart failure, cardiogenic shock, and mechanical circulatory support.

About you:- Board-certified in Cardiovascular Disease and Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology.
- Significant clinical experience in advanced heart failure, durable LVAD therapy, and temporary mechanical circulatory support.
- Demonstrated leadership and program development experience, preferably within an established advanced heart failure or LVAD program.
- Strong commitment to multidisciplinary collaboration, clinical excellence, medical education, and quality improvement.
- Demonstrated excellence in research and academic scholarship with qualifications appropriate for appointment at the Associate Professor level or higher.
