About the roleThe Mechanical Supervisor reports to the Maintenance Manager and is responsible for the overall direction, planning, and coordination of mechanical maintenance activities to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient plant operations. This role requires a strong mechanical background, hands-on experience managing work orders in a Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), and the ability to supervise, train, and develop mechanics while supporting procurement processes and material management.
Please note that this position is eligible for a sign-on bonus.Position Responsibilities- Provide daily direction to mechanics and maintenance technicians, including work prioritization, troubleshooting support, and guidance on resolving mechanical equipment issues.
- Utilize a CMMS -including PeopleSoft, Jaegger, or similar platforms-to manage work orders, monitor KPIs, plan tasks, oversee backlog, and optimize PM/CM programs.
- Ensure maintenance tasks are executed safely, efficiently, and in compliance with environmental and regulatory standards.
- Oversee the planning, scheduling, and execution of mechanical maintenance activities to maximize equipment availability and plant capacity.
- Maintain departmental work schedules supporting daily maintenance, Major Outages, Minor/Cleaning Outages, Forced Outages, and special projects
- Ensure all work orders are properly planned, scheduled, updated, and completed in alignment with weekly and bi-weekly maintenance schedules.
- Directly supervise, coach, and train mechanics and maintenance staff to ensure competency, progression, and adherence to mechanical best practices.
- Conduct root cause analysis on mechanical and system failures to enhance equipment performance and long-term reliability.
- Select, train, evaluate, and support new hires to maintain a capable and cross-trained mechanical workforce.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives using change-management practices, encouraging employee involvement in system enhancements and reliability improvements.
- Partner with Procurement and the Warehouse team to support the purchasing of outage materials, rental equipment, tools, and contractor services.
- Conduct safety audits and ensure adherence to all safety programs during routine and outage maintenance work.
- Generate and distribute maintenance-related reports and documentation.
- Stay current on recommendations from Boiler Condition Assessment Reports and implement appropriate follow-up actions.
- Review monthly vibration analysis results and ensure recommended corrective actions are implemented.
Education & Experience- High School Diploma/GED required; Bachelor's Degree in Engineering strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of mechanical or power plant maintenance experience, including NBIC Boiler Code work, ASME Power Piping, work planning, job execution, and cost/time estimating.
- Minimum of 2 years of supervisory experience managing mechanics or maintenance teams, including planning and executing Major, Minor, and Forced Outages.
- Strong background in work-order management using CMMS software (PeopleSoft, Jaegger, or similar).
- Experience working with procurement, purchasing processes, and materials requisitioning.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities- Proficiency with CMMS systems for scheduling, maintenance planning, and work-order lifecycle management.
- Strong mechanical troubleshooting skills and understanding of plant equipment and systems.
- Ability to supervise, direct, and develop non-exempt personnel and mechanically skilled trades.
- Skilled in developing requisitions, ordering parts/materials, and monitoring PO and inventory status.
- Proficient in Excel, Word, and data management systems.
- Ability to collaborate with peer supervisors and coordinate priorities across departments.
- Strong conflict-resolution skills when navigating competing maintenance and operations priorities.
Physical & Shift Demands- Ability to walk, stand, sit, climb, and work in various weather conditions.
- Ability to lift/carry up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to work from heights, in confined spaces, and wear a full-face respirator.
- Must wear all required PPE for assigned tasks.
- Must meet vision requirements, including close, distance, peripheral, and depth perception.
- Regular schedule is Monday - Friday, 11 a.m. - 8 p.m. but must be able to work rotating or split shifts as needed.
- Must be willing to work nights, weekends, and extended hours during outages and critical operations.
- Must be available for call-ins during off-hours as required by the department.

The pay range for the primary location of this position is: $100,400.00 - $133,500.00 USD. For hourly roles, this is the annualized salary. To calculate the hourly rate, divide by 2080.
