MECHANICAL SERVICES MANAGER

Working location: Neenah, WI, USA

General Description

Reporting to the Plant Manager, this position is responsible for all aspects of the Mechanical Services Department including safety, quality, efficiency, accuracy, productivity, and record keeping.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES AND TASKS
  • Facilitate the day-to-day activities of the team.
  • Schedule departmental work and assign work to team.
  • Plan, execute and manage daily work to meet production quotas.
  • Communicate with customers/sales engineers to solve questions regarding scope of work.
  • Direct and supervise employees on a daily basis with minimal support of manager.
  • Develop employee skills and provide cross training for all critical job functions
  • Support Lean Manufacturing activities to reduce waste in the value stream.
  • Maintain area cleanliness and organization.
  • Follow and enforce all company policies and procedures.
  • Tour the area continually to observe and correct existing and / or potential production problems.
  • Confer with other supervisors to coordinate operations and activities within departments or between departments


QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS
  • Education: Prefer a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering
  • Experience: Requires a minimum of 5+ years' experience in a Mechanical Shop environment, such as paper mill or fab shop, engineers, supervisors or leadsmen.
  • Prefer knowledge and experience with Paper Machine Roll Maintenance and Operation.
  • Experience with disassembly, repair, and assembly of plain press and suction paper rolls.
  • Applicant must have a working knowledge of formal quality systems such as ISO, QIT, TQM, etc.
  • Prefers a solid background with paper mill suction roll, bearing, journal, maintenance, and repairs.
  • Have ability to read detailed prints and the ability to generate professional engineering drawing for work performed using CAD software or traditional drafting methods using standard ANSI symbols and tolerances.
  • 5-10 years' experience in general supervisory role that would include strategic planning, resource allocation, man power modeling, leadership techniques, and production methods.
  • Experience in motivating, developing, and directing people as they work.
  • Experience in inspecting and evaluating the quality of products.
  • Knowledge of instructional methods and training techniques.
  • Innovation and creativity in solving problems.
  • Basic Microsoft Office skills: Word, Excel, Outlook.
  • Basic mechanical skills and aptitude.
  • Strong written, verbal and interpersonal skills
  • The job requires occasional travel.
  • Languages: English
