DESCRIPTIONMechanical Project Engineer engages with our customers and designs custom machinery in exciting markets that are primarily in the Medical Device market. Mechanical Project Engineers are individuals who manage all aspects of the project from conceptual design to installation. These individuals are also responsible for major contributions to the design as they will manage the day-to-day detailed design advancement.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES - Successful completion of assigned projects, including financial success and on time delivery.
- Must be able to work concurrently on one or more projects
- Conduct weekly design reviews with customers and provide minutes of meetings
- Create detailed concept sketches to refine proposed concepts. Proficient with SolidWorks. Able to create models of nests, overall system layouts, and complex station designs
- Responsible for design approval documents for system design
- Responsible for project Bill of Materials
- Responsible for ISO required Product Realization Sheets
- Create project schedules with Microsoft Project
- Monitor and manage customer requirements, costs, and timing events
- Work with procurement to ensure all material deliveries
- Create work lists for assembly technicians
- Manage assembly priorities with production supervisor
- Work with Controls Engineers to ensure electrical and controls needs are met as required
- Define engineering manpower for project needs
- Manage Designers and Detailers for specific project
- Review and approve detailed drawing packages for production
- Manage all customer communications (project manager is the direct liaison to the customer)
- Create GAMP Functional Specification document for project
- Proactively manage changes in project scope through ECOs and schedule changes
- Oversee debug and testing phase to ensure all customer requirements are met
- Oversee and perform FAT with customer
- Responsible for proper shipment and installation of equipment
- Responsible for delivery of all customer documentation
- Responsible for customer issues with equipment for the life of the project
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: - Advanced knowledge in machine design or build of products in the OEM vertical and having designed at least 5 automated systems. Knowledge must span from conceptual design through installation and service of the systems.
- 5+ years of relevant design and project experience.
- Working knowledge of SolidWorks with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Experience in working with a project scheduling tool such as Microsoft Project.
- Prior success in establishing effective relationships and communications with Customers.
- Strong leadership, professionalism, communication, and project management skills.

EDUCATION - A four-year degree in mechanical engineering required.
