Position Introduction/Key Duties
Cimarron is seeking a
Mechanical Project Engineer with deep knowledge in structural and mechanical engineering and a background directing complex technical projects from conception to completion. In this role they will be responsible for the design and development of structural and mechanical subsystems of the first commercial space station. This role is onsite located in Houston, TX.
Key Duties:- Project Governance: Define and manage project scope, resource allocation, budgets, work/product breakdown structures, identify and ensure compliance to product requirement specifications.
- Lifecycle Delivery: Mature and deliver product designs and project deliverables in alignment with product lifecycle milestone entrance and exit criteria.
- Subcontractor Management: Negotiate vendor contracts, monitor performance, and verify deliverables for compliance ensure compliance with contractual agreements for complex structural subsystem.
- Executive Communicate: Present technical compliance, status updates, and milestone progress to executive leadership and external clients.
- Technical Leadership: Lead product team through all phases of a project - requirements development, design, prototyping, procurement, verification & validation, production, delivery, and obsolescence.
- Task Management: complex technical objectives into clear tasks and assign them across multidisciplinary teams.
- Engineering Analysis: Prepare and execute trade studies to facilitate the closure of major project decision points, interpret and review engineering drawings, design criteria, and technical reports.
- Integration & Testing: Plan and lead build flows, test flows, integration efforts, and project risks mitigation activities.
- Anomaly Resolution: Investigate root causes, resolve cross-cutting engineering issues, and manage discrepancies.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure products meet rigorous NASA standards, FAA regulations, and quality safety requirements.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- Ability to complete a pre-employment background check and drug screening, which will include but is not limited to testing for marijuana use.
- Must be willing to work evenings and weekends as needed to meet critical project milestones.
- 10 or more years of relevant experience.
- Deep technical understanding in structural integrity verification and mechanical system integration.
- Experience working with NASA requirements and contractual agreements and spaceflight hardware development and certification preferred.
- Highly proficient in MS Office software (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project, etc.).
- Experience with SOLIDWORKS 3D modeling software or similar computer aided design tool.
- Experience with PDM software such as SolidWorks Product Data Management (PDM) or similar preferred.
- Experience with project management software (Microsoft Project, Primavera P6).
- Experience with Atlassian suite preferred.
- Track record of making things happen in ambiguous, fast-moving environments.
- Uses good judgement to solve problems proactively, positively impacting hard challenges.
- Demonstrated organization skills to meet tight deadlines with high-quality results.
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering or related field and 10+ years' experience leading Engineering projects.
Desired Skills, Experience, and Education:- Spaceflight hardware design background preferred.
