Full Job Description
Work Arrangement
Onsite role at the Tampa, FL Office with potential travel to testing sites as needed. Periods of development may require long irregular hours around deadlines, weekends, and some holidays and in-field test environments.

Job Overview
As a Mechanical engineering manager within AEVEX Aerospace, you will be responsible for the supervision, development and tasking of a group of engineers who share your specific discipline. Managers are also valuable contributors to project goals within their discipline. Working across projects, managers ensure that the right engineers are solving the right problems for specific programs and projects. Managers need to be experts in their field and have a passion for the hiring and development of engineers at all levels within their careers. This includes mentoring, training, and assignments, as well as performance reviews and career advancement. This position is specifically for a mechanical engineering manager with experience in designing aerospace and defense systems.

Essential Functions
• Design, implement, and refine product development, testing, and manufacturing processes.
• Supervise and manage assignments and career development of assigned staff.
• Lead team in the development of new products, solutions, and processes.
• Oversee and contribute to project logistics and resource allocation.
• Strive to improve efficiency and sustainability of processes and product designs, and to reduce waste.
• Secure the resources needed for teams to excel, including researching and proposing capital investments.
• Help to create and oversee project budgets and engages in cost management strategies.
• Attend trade shows and conferences and makes site visits to suppliers' facilities.
• Advocate on behalf of team members by securing adequate resources for success.
• Communicate technical information to non-technical stakeholders, including investors, senior management and potential customers.
• Maintain high-level expertise in their field or sector.
• Assure that processes meet quality and safety compliance guidelines.
• Collaborate with other team leaders and departments.
• Forge and maintains relationships with suppliers and customers.
• Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies
• Strong personnel and project management skills
• Expert-level knowledge of aerospace and mechanical engineering technology and processes
• Strong strategic thinking, critical thinking, and problem solving skills
• Strong background in SOLIDWORKS CAD design, 3D printing, payloads, propulsion, and mechanical systems
• Flexible thinking, including the ability to pivot and try new approaches when faced with challenges
• Strong attention to detail with excellent organizational, planning, and documentation skills.
• Proficiency in using presentation software to explain complex information to non-technical management personnel and other stakeholders
• Ability to work on multiple projects in various stages simultaneously
• Knowledge in Jira, Confluence, and MS Project

Education / Certifications
• BS in Aerospace, Mechanical Engineering or other applicable degree required
• Master's degree in aerospace or mechanical engineering preferred

Experience
• 10+ years of experience in Aerospace or Mechanical engineering or other related discipline.
• 4+ years of leadership or management experience in a technical role.
• Experience using SOLIDWORKS computer-aided design (CAD) platforms or equivalent
• Experience using Confluence and JIRA software tools
