Opportunity Overview

Teradyne is expanding its centralized mechanical engineering capability in Agoura Hills to support next-generation semiconductor test equipment. This team partners across product development to solve complex mechanical and thermal challenges in high-performance capital equipment, from concept development through integration, verification, and release.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will help design mechanical components, subsystems, and assemblies that enable high-performance semiconductor test platforms used across computing, communications, mobility, and AI infrastructure. This is a development-focused role for an engineer looking to build depth in mechanical design while gaining hands-on exposure to CAD, GD&T, tolerance analysis, prototype builds, integration, suppliers, manufacturing, and design verification.

  • Support development of mechanical components, subsystems, and assemblies for next-generation semiconductor test equipment
  • Contribute to capital equipment electromechanical design under the guidance of senior engineers
  • Translate high-level requirements into mechanical design concepts with supporting engineering analysis
  • Create and revise 3D models and 2D drawings using SOLIDWORKS
  • Apply GD&T and sound mechanical design practices to support functional and manufacturable designs
  • Support prototype builds, integration activities, functional testing, and design verification
  • Collaborate with mechanical, electrical, systems, thermal, reliability, manufacturing, product, and supplier teams

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline
  • Typically 2+ years of mechanical engineering experience, or an advanced degree with relevant project experience
  • SOLIDWORKS experience required; PDM or similar data management exposure preferred
  • Solid foundation in mechanical design principles, GD&T, and engineering drawing practices
  • Exposure to structural analysis, tolerance analysis, FEA, prototype builds, or design verification
  • Clear communication and documentation skills with a focus on teamwork and execution
  • Proactive, hands-on mindset with the ability to ramp quickly, take ownership of assigned work, and collaborate effectively across engineering teams


Preferred
  • Experience with semiconductor test equipment, capital equipment, high-density electronics packaging, or PCBA/PCB interface constraints
  • Exposure to manufacturing processes such as machined parts, sheet metal, injection molding, castings, or 3D printing
  • Experience supporting prototype builds, system integration, supplier interaction, or design verification
  • Interest in complex electromechanical systems, electronics packaging, or platform-level product development
  • Experience working in a fast-paced cross-functional engineering environment

Success in this role means quickly building familiarity with Teradyne products, tools, and design practices while delivering assigned CAD, drawing, analysis, documentation, prototype, and verification work with increasing independence. Over time, this role should grow from guided execution into broader ownership of mechanical design tasks.

Compensation

The base salary range for this role is $79,800 - $127,600. This range is a good faith estimate, and the amount of base salary will correspond with experience and skill set. This range can also fluctuate depending on demand and location.

Incentive Plan: This job is eligible for discretionary bonus(es) based on financial performance.
