Full Job Description
PMX Industries is seeking an experienced Mechanical Engineer to support our manufacturing operations through equipment reliability, process improvements, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives. This position plays a critical role in maintaining and enhancing production equipment, improving plant efficiency, and supporting long-term operational goals.

The ideal candidate will have a strong manufacturing background, excellent problem-solving skills, and experience working in a heavy industrial environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Design, develop, and implement mechanical systems and equipment improvements to support manufacturing operations.
  • Analyze equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve reliability, productivity, safety, and efficiency.
  • Lead and support capital improvement projects from concept through installation and commissioning.
  • Troubleshoot mechanical equipment failures and work closely with maintenance and production teams to identify root causes and corrective actions.
  • Develop engineering specifications, equipment standards, and maintenance recommendations.
  • Coordinate with vendors, contractors, and internal stakeholders on equipment purchases, installations, and upgrades.
  • Prepare project scopes, cost estimates, schedules, and technical documentation.
  • Support preventive and predictive maintenance initiatives to maximize equipment uptime.
  • Utilize engineering principles and analytical methods to optimize manufacturing processes.
  • Ensure compliance with all company safety policies, environmental regulations, and engineering standards.
  • Participate in continuous improvement efforts focused on quality, cost reduction, productivity, and operational excellence.
  • Provide technical support and training to maintenance and operations personnel as needed.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications
Education & Experience
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline required.
  • Minimum of five (5) years and up to ten (10) years of engineering experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment.
  • Experience supporting heavy manufacturing, metals, mining, chemical processing, paper, food processing, or similar industrial operations preferred.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) certification is a plus but not required.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, gearboxes, bearings, conveyors, and rotating equipment.
  • Experience managing capital projects and equipment installations.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, schematics, and technical specifications.
  • Working knowledge of CAD software and engineering design principles.
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to identify and resolve complex mechanical issues.
  • Excellent communication and project management skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard engineering software applications.
  • Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English for all business and job-related transactions.
