The estimated base salary range for this role is "$80,000 to $130,000" per year.
Individual pay is based upon location, skills and expertise, experience and other relevant factors

Armstrong World Industries (AWI) has a job opportunity for a Mechanical Engineer to be located in Marietta, PA. Reporting to the plant Engineering & Capital Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will be responsible for providing technical services for individual Value Streams, relating to the manufacturing equipment and processes including providing daily technical support. This position will also identify and execute process improvement and cost reduction opportunities, as well as design, manage, and execute capital projects. The projects will be of moderate scope and complexity.

What will you do?
  • Actively participating as a member of the Value Stream Steering Team to drive resolution of common cause and special cause issues that negatively impact Safety, Quality, Cost, and/or Productivity
  • Communicating effectively with an interdisciplinary team (Value Stream Team) to support the success of their area of operation
  • Investigating manufacturing issues within the Value Stream and recommend corrective action
  • Serving as the plant contact for strategic project teams impacting their Value Stream as well as representing the needs of the plant to the strategic project teams and communicating issues needing resolution back to the Plant
  • Applying Precision Maintenance concepts and principals to all work performed
  • Interacting with vendors/suppliers with the goal of scoping projects, receiving bids/quotes, placing orders, and managing/overseeing the execution work
  • Managing and driving a complex project portfolio with multiple goals, timelines, sizes, and scopes
  • Supports 24/7 operation


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or similar field
  • 5+ years of engineering experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Previous Project Management experience
  • Experience in developing equipment design drawings
  • Previous experience in budgeting and estimating projects
  • Experience using AutoCAD


What will make you stand out?
  • EIT or FE, or Professional Engineer certification
  • Experience using Minitab
  • Lean Practitioner certification and/or experience
  • Experience in using SAP
  • Prior experience with MS Project
