Full Job Description
What You'll Do

As an Engineer III, you're fully competent in conventional design engineering and serve as a discipline expert-leading design concepts and analyses, coordinating across MEP and architectural teams, mentoring colleagues, and delivering clear, code-aligned documentation from concept through construction.
  • Assume responsible charge for projects within your experience and expertise; lead discipline design delivery on moderate to large projects.
  • Lead the project team in developing design approaches and concepts; perform engineering studies and analyses using industry software.
  • Coordinate designs with other disciplines to determine equipment needs, provide input for operating procedures, and supply technical information.
  • Evaluate work of technical staff and provide feedback/corrections; review work for technical accuracy prior to final QA/QC.
  • Develop discipline man-hour budgets and workplans; update schedules with the Project Manager and deliver to plan.
  • Coordinate with suppliers, contractors, clients, and local authorities/utilities to define scope and incorporate applicable standards.
  • Identify model/drawing collisions and ensure timely resolution by the design team; uphold proactive QA/QC plans.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals; respond to contractor and supplier questions during bid and construction phases.
  • Conduct job-site visits to monitor progress and observe installed construction; comment based on design specs, owner expectations, and codes.
  • Assist senior technical staff with technical documentation, proposals, and client presentations; participate in professional organizations.
  • Provide mentoring and developmental guidance to team members; assist in designing/executing internal technical trainings.

Who We're Looking For

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering from an ABET accredited college with 12 years applicable experience in discipline design and analysis
  • Registered Professional Engineer
  • An expert in the discipline of his/her expertise

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proficient in industry software (Revit and AutoCAD) and discipline-specific tools (e.g., Trace700, SKM).
  • Thorough knowledge of engineering theories/methodologies, drafting/design procedures and specifications, and design specifications.
  • Thorough knowledge of applicable codes and regulations; equipment selection tools; construction costs and methods.
  • Strong written communication and technical writing; clear speech clarity; strong comprehension and presentation skills.
  • Organizational skills to marshal resources and orchestrate multiple activities; mentoring mindset; sound judgment and decision-making.
  • Ability to visualize design solutions and communicate them effectively across disciplines and with clients/contractors.
