Job Title: Manufacturing Engineer
Location: Detroit, Michigan. Onsite
Pay Range: $48-50 per hour.
Job Type: W2 Contract.
Expected Hours per Week: 40 hours per week.
Schedule: Monday-Friday.

Position Summary:
We are seeking a hands-on Manufacturing Engineer to provide direct line and maintenance engineering support for Engines Assembly, with support for Axles Assembly processes as needed. This role will be responsible for supporting daily production, troubleshooting equipment and tooling issues, improving assembly processes, and assisting with project-based engineering work. The ideal candidate will have strong manufacturing assembly experience, hands-on automation knowledge, and experience working with Fanuc/KUKA robots, fastening systems, and torque tools.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide daily maintenance engineering support for Engines Assembly and Axles Assembly areas as needed.
  • Troubleshoot tooling, equipment, and production line breakdowns.
  • Review station-level drawings and BOMs to recommend spare parts.
  • Develop and implement preventative maintenance procedures.
  • Support tooling and equipment changes for new product updates.
  • Develop and improve assembly process methods.
  • Work with purchasing and vendors to procure equipment.
  • Support equipment certification including gages, torque guns, and leak testers.
  • Provide technical support and coaching to assemblers, supervisors, and skilled trades.
  • Assist with problem-solving related to production, tooling, and automated equipment.
  • Participate in weekend production coverage rotation as needed.

Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering Technology.
  • 8+ years of applicable experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
  • Minimum 3 years of manufacturing experience in an assembly environment.
  • Hands-on experience supporting production equipment.
  • Experience working with Fanuc and/or KUKA robots.
  • Experience with fastening systems and torque tools.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, and methods.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficient with PC hardware and standard software applications.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with Siemens PLCs including S7-300 and S7-1500.
  • Experience with Siemens software including Step 7, TIA Portal, and Starter.
  • Experience with HMIs, servos, drives, and automated manufacturing systems.
  • Experience with Cognex and Keyence vision systems.
  • Experience with AutoCAD or AutoCAD LT.
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, electrical, and lubrication systems.
  • Experience with Kistler or Promess pressing operations.
  • Experience programming and troubleshooting torque tooling.
  • Project management or supervisory experience.
  • Union shop experience.
