As a Mechanical EngineerII you will be to support Transportable Radar programs based in Woburn, MA, and may require domestic and international travel to suppliers, Raytheon facilities, and customer sites. This position will be an onsite role in Woburn, MA.

What You Will Do

  • Utilize Raytheon hardware tools and processes including Creo and PTC Windchill
  • Gain skills that allow you to operate successfully with increasing autonomy
  • Support and participate in design peer reviews and resolve action items.
  • Revise technical data packages in support of design changes and producibility.
  • Submit change requests for technical data package revisions and shepherd this change request through the approval process in accordance with configuration control, documentation policies and processes, and validation requirements.
  • Create new drawings to be included in technical data packages while adhering to policies and processes governing configuration control, documentation standards, and design validation.
  • Perform mechanical design, development, and documentation of components, sub-assemblies, for transportable radar systems and equipment in accordance with industry, government, and company policies and processes.
  • Collaborate in a matrix organization when revising drawings, integrating inputs from subject matter experts in multiple disciplines, including Structural & Thermal Analysts, Materials Engineering, Quality, Safety, Supply Chain, Operations, and Program Leadership as needed.
  • Support the factory and suppliers (domestic) with product development, assembly, obsolescence, and troubleshooting.
  • Interface with other engineering disciplines, non-technical disciplines, and suppliers to develop design solutions and resolve technical challenges.
  • Apply knowledge and experience in technical problem solving and hardware development in a fast paced and challenging team environment.
  • Work with one or more Mechanical Engineering leads to meet commitments for assigned schedule and technical goals, becoming an expert in time management and prioritization.


Qualifications You Must Have
  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience.
  • Experience utilizing mechanical engineering principals in the design, development, and/or production of mechanical equipment and/or hardware.
  • Experience in the development, creation, release, and updates of engineering drawings utilizing a 3D CAD design tool.
  • Experience in the review and interpretation of technical documentation utilized in the development or production of hardware products.
  • Experience with ANSI/ASME Y14.5 GD&T (Geometric Dimension and Tolerances) and tolerance analysis.
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required. U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Must possess strong technical writing and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to work autonomously with minimal supervision.
  • Team player, self-driven leader with excellent collaboration skills.

Qualifications We Prefer
  • Experience using PTC Windchill
  • Advanced degree in mechanical or manufacturing engineering, or hardware systems design.
  • Experience in the engineering evaluation and design of component selection to address product obsolescence.
  • Experience working in a production environment supporting development and low-rate production of military and defense products.
  • Working knowledge of industry specifications utilized in creation of technical data packages as they apply to design and production of military products.
  • Experience with CREO (Pro/E) or similar 3D solid modeling software.
  • Experience with PTC Windchill Product Data Management or equivalent configuration/data management software.
  • Proven team player and self-motivated leader with exceptional collaboration and interpersonal skills, fostering positive and productive interactions in a team-focused environment
  • Excellent technical writing, presentation, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously with minimal supervision.

The salary range for this role is 68,900 USD - 131,100 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate's work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
