Full Job Description
Work on specific technical projects for the purpose of planning, designing, and developing products, machines and other mechanical improvements to escalator, elevator, and moving walk systems. Support installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of such equipment. Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of designs to improve product quality, efficiency, and reliability. Plan and design individual components, higher level assemblies, and other mechanically functioning equipment. Translate technical guidance received from supervisor into usable engineering data applicable to assignments and large projects. Occasionally be required to guide technicians or drafters on specific projects. Coordinate closely with Project Managers and supports Pre-Bid requirements. Perform assignments associated with design or development and manufacture of specific parts and components within various phases of a project. Coordinate the activities of Level I engineers or technicians assigned to specific projects. Coordinate closely with other engineering disciplines in the development and application of methods to increase production quality, efficiency, or volume. Coordinate with other departments to improve processes. Work with external field personnel to develop installation methodology for new designs. Select materials based on several factors including strength requirements, environmental impacts, fatigue life, manufacturability, and overall cost. Up to 10% domestic travel required. REQUIREMENTS: This position requires a Bachelor's degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or related, plus 5 years of work experience in mechanical engineering and design for industries of complex and large assemblies (minimum of 750 components) including automotive, construction, agriculture, or heavy manufacturing equipment. Additionally, the applicant must have professional experience with: (1) Experience reading, understanding, and interpreting ASME A17.1, B44, and EN 115 Safety Codes, and applying them to the iterative design process; (2) Experience creating detailed engineering part drawings, assembly drawings and component Bill of Materials using Creo, Windchill, and AutoCAD; (3) Experience with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) modeling and interpretation, candidate should be able to competently review and analyze analysis results, interpret load path progression, and contribute to design improvements where required to achieve stable results; (4) Experience managing both strategic and tactical work streams as both an individual contributor and in a large project environment for escalator, elevator, or moving walk systems projects; (5) Experience in coordinating and/or guiding staff performing drafting and drawing detail execution, and applying iterative technical feedback to ensure document accuracy and detail; and (6) Experience in working across process partners and cross-functional teams to support project deliverables and improve processes including quality, manufacturing, and field personnel for escalator, elevator, or moving walk systems. RATE OF PAY: $118,102 per year BENEFITS: Eligible for the KONE Bonus Plan (50/50) with a target bonus of $16,888.50, subject to company and individual performance.
