Job Description Summary
Activities aimed at proving a concept to be valid or technically feasible by the application of scientific and engineering methodologies. Work in this family typically has the objective of demonstrating through test or analyses the performance and implementation potential of a concept. Impacts quality of own work and the work of others on the team. Executes standard operational/technical tasks typically subject to instructions and work routines. There is latitude to rearrange the sequence to complete task/duties based on changing work situations.

The Services Instrumentation and Controls C10 / C35.6 systems engineer is responsible for designing, developing and testing Instrumentation and Control (I&C) platforms and systems that control safety critical functions for the BWRX-300 Small Module Reactor. This role requires technical problem solving, requirements management, and effective communication/collaboration with other teams and engineering disciplines.

Job Description

Roles and Responsibilities
  • Conceptual or theoretical activities related to the principles of engineering, physics, and materials science for the design, analysis, manufacturing, and maintenance of mechanical systems.
  • Broadening knowledge of own technical discipline to execute policy/strategy. May include support roles with specialized technical field of knowledge; still acquiring higher level knowledge and skills.
  • Basic understanding of key business drivers; uses this understanding to accomplish own work. Good understanding of how work of own team integrates with other teams and contributes to the area.
  • May have some autonomy to make decisions within a defined framework. Resolves issues in situations that require good technical knowledge and judgment within established procedures. Consults more senior team members for issues outside of defined instructions/parameters.
  • A job at this level requires good interpersonal skills and may be required to lead a junior team. For customer facing roles, develops strong customer relationships and serves as the interface between customer and GE. Explains technical information to others.
  • Demonstrate accountability for cost, schedule, quality, and technical accuracy of assigned tasks.
  • Document requirements and ensure designs meet requirements.
  • Accountable for system designs.
  • Engage customers to define scope, review results, and discuss technical risks.
  • Provide clear and complete analysis documentation in accordance with GE engineering procedures.
  • Manage time effectively to provide quality deliverables within the expected project timeline. Communicate effectively to leadership the status of work activities.
  • Effectively manage multiple priorities.


Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Computer Engineering from an accredited university or college.
  • 2 years of experience in mechanical design in highly regulated industry.


Eligibility Requirements
  • For US - This role requires access to U.S. export-controlled information. If applicable, final offers will be contingent on ability to obtain authorization for access to U.S. export-controlled information from the U.S. Government.
  • For Canada GE will only employ those who are legally authorized to work in Canada for this opening.
  • For Canada - This position will report onsite to the Markham office 3 days a week.

For candidates applying to a Canadian-based position, the pay range for this position is between $79K and $129K CAD. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

For candidates applying to a U.S. based position, the pay range for this position is between $80,000.00 and $120,000.00. The Company pays a geographic differential of 110%, 120% or 130% of salary in certain areas. The specific pay offered may be influenced by a variety of factors, including the candidate's experience, education, and skill set.

Bonus eligibility: discretionary annual bonus.
