Nature and Scope:

TheControl Valve SpecialistEngineerwill focus heavily on control valve design as well as the design of keydownstreamcomponents that work with the valve.Willbe responsible forengineered to ordervalve designsoperatinginextremeconditions.This role willinvolvecreating designs, drawings, BOMsand completinganalyses, and willalso oversee and support theassemblyand testing of complex productsduring the production,testingand validation process.TheEngineerwill also have agoodworking relationship withthecommercial operations team leaders to help support the quotation efforts on special high-energyand complex valve projectsto make sure our products are sized and specified correctly.

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Technicalownerforvariouscomplexvalve applications andcustom-engineeredsolutions.

  • Provideresponsivetechnicalsupport to both internal and external customers.

  • Capture anddocument engineering/R26D bestpractices andknow-howto ensure that knowledge can be transferred effectively throughout the organization.

  • Leadand contribute tothedesign of productsorserviceswhich include significant advancementsin technology or innovative design concepts.

  • Collaborate withthe productmanagertoidentifytechnology gaps andresearchnew or alternative technologiesto meet market requirements.

  • Produce white papers and othercollateralto advance Flowserves technical standing in the marketplace.

  • Serve as a technical mentor and trainer tofacilitateeffective knowledge transfer inanarea of expertise to technical staff to advance Flowserves technical capabilities and sustain long-term competency.

  • Bachelor of Science in Engineering 6 Mechanical preferred.

  • Experienceleadingteams to success.

  • Ability topositivelyinfluence and develop other employees not directly reporting to this position.

  • Experience in product engineering design.

  • Experiencewith thedesignorapplication of control valvesin severe service applications.

  • Experience with engineering3Dmodeling and design tools (ANSYS, SolidWorks,Windchill,CATIA, etc.)

  • Practicalexpertisein advanced thermodynamicsand fluid dynamics.

  • Experiencewith research,simulationand testing in the field of fluid dynamics including instrumentation and datainterpretation.

  • Strong knowledge transfer and mentoring skills in group and individual situations.

  • Experience applyingFailure Mode and Effect Analysis and Project Management.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Design of severe service control valve trim for high velocity and high noise applications.

  • Selectionand development of compatible materials for highly corrosive and erosive applications.

  • Work with supplychainand manufacturers directly to develop critical components forsevere serviceapplications.

  • Lead sustaining engineering projects to improve cost and efficiency of Flowserve control valve products.

  • Support New Product Development initiativesby creating designs, drawings, BOMs and analyses throughout the product development process.

  • Train and develop engineering talent with Flowserves global engineering support teams.

  • Create and deliver presentations to track and report progress to the Global Engineering Leader, Engineering Director and other senior leadership.

  • Design and develop control valve solutions for special engineered-to-order control valve applications.

  • Providetimelyand effective support for manufacturing and assembly personnel to resolve engineering issues that arise during the production process.

  • Activelyparticipateand engage in Operational Excellence methodologies such as Daily Management and Problem Solving to support the efficacy of Flowserves quality and on-time deliveryobjectives.

  • Provide technical support tootherengineering support teams.

  • Participate and engage in design reviews for engineered products.

  • Meet with sales representatives and customers asrequiredto gather direct feedback and information about the customers process to aid in developing robust and effective solutions.

  • Expected Travel: 10%
