Responsibilities

Noblis MSD's mission is to support the Naval Sea Systems Command (NAVSEA) and, Naval Surface Warfare Center (NSWCPD) and their missions' to enable research, development, test and evaluation, acquisition, engineering, systems integration, in-service and fleet engineering with cybersecurity, comprehensive logistics, and life-cycle savings. Noblis is looking to hire a Mechanical Engineer to provide support to various ship programs for the US Navy in the areas of oil pollution abatement in the wastewater code.

You will provide engineering, technical, logistics, and obsolescence support to U.S. Navy, U.S. Coast Guard, U.S. Army, and Foreign Military Sales ships and vessels related to the following systems and equipment: Oily Waste Transfer (OWT) systems; Oil Water Separators (OWS); Oil Content Monitors (OCMs); and secondary treatment systems such as ceramic membranes; Non-Oily Wastewater (NOW) systems and equipment support.

The Mechanical Engineer position will design, evaluate, plan, test and operate mechanical equipment and systems for commercial, government, military and/or scientific uses. The candidate's primary duties and responsibilities include:
  • Creating mechanical designs and drawings
  • Writing precise calculations
  • Creating and testing prototypes for functionality
  • Re-engineering products when problems are found and recalculating for the return of products to full functionality
  • Preparing reports and documentation for leadership
  • Perform obsolescence evaluation and assist with finding replacements

This position will be based out of the Philadelphia Navy yard,

This is a fast-growing program with opportunity for growth and advancement. Also, this is a long-term contract.

Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Marine Engineering or Electrical Engineering.
  • Three (3) years of experience in including mechanical/electrical system design, repair, installation, modification, operation, maintenance and testing.
  • US citizen and an active DoD security clearance at SECRET level or the ability to obtain one
  • Experience with equipment design principles
  • Familiarity with 2D/3D engineering design & manufacturing tools (AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Inventor)
  • Experience reviewing models and drawings for manufacturability of parts
  • Experience with documentation development including drawings, technical manuals (operation, assembly, troubleshooting, and repair), bill of materials
  • Familiarity military specifications for technical design

Desired Qualifications

  • Shipboard experience Navy or Maritime is a plus
  • Experience working with detailed specifications under configuration management
  • Experience interfacing directly with US military technical representatives
  • Experience working with equipment suppliers and vendors
  • Shipboard experience as an operator / maintainer is a plus.

Compensation at Noblis is determined by various factors, including but not limited to, the combination of education, certifications, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, internal and external equity, location, clearance level, as well as contract-specific affordability, organizational requirements and applicable employment laws. The projected compensation range for this position is based on full time status. For part time or on-call staff, compensation is proportionately adjusted based on hours worked. While monetary compensation is important, it's just one component of Noblis' total compensation package.

USD $78,900.00 - USD $123,300.00 /Yr.
