  • Mentor and oversee junior engineers involved in projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Ability to be a working Mechanical Engineering lead for small to medium sized projects
  • Ability to work as a Package Engineer on large projects
  • Ensure the delivery of critical vendor data and equipment to site for relevant mechanical and piping packages
  • Responsible for managing budgets, schedule and deliverables related to the scope
  • Working with engineering and construction to align deliverables with contractual requirements
  • Provide regular feedback to the Area Engineer on progress with preparation of deliverables


Organizational Structure, Specific Responsibilities and Accountabilities

  • Reports to Discipline Lead and Project Engineering Lead
  • With and under direction of Area engineers, responsible for scope, cost and schedule of packages
  • Oversees technical aspects of contract package from design to post award support
  • Expected to follow the full package lifecycle from the concept through to site completion
  • A Mechanical Lead engineer familiar with multi-discipline packages
  • Oversees junior engineers within projects
  • Once package is awarded, technical single point of contact between Project and package supplier/contractor.


Qualifications and Experience:

  • Experience in Oil and Gas facilities projects with preference to midstream and oil sands extraction facilities
  • Experience with rotating equipment such as pumps and compressors an asset
  • Experience with static equipment such as tanks, vessels and heat exchangers an asset
  • Experience in a heavy industrial design and layout, EPCM environment is preferred
  • Experience with B31.3 and CSA Z662 piping systems
  • Field experience in construction and commissioning phases an asset
  • Ability to author Scope of Works, material requisitions and contract plans
  • Ability to understand estimates and perform package budget reconciliations
  • Understanding of project controls processes including scheduling and cost management
  • Strong deliverable focus with a proven ability to attain quality and schedule objectives while maintaining budgets
  • Well developed communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in mentoring young professionals
  • Strong client focus
  • Knowledge of project delivery, including the activities, interfaces and interdependence of all project disciplines
  • Knowledge of general office software and tools (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Project)
  • Experience with greenfield and brownfield interfaces
  • Strong written and oral communication skills


Willing and able to travel for short durations to various global project offices or to site is considered an asset.
