Overview

MECHANICAL ENGINEER (AT):

 

The Mechanical Engineer position is responsible for supporting manufacturing projects. This position combines hands-on technical work and maintenance of equipment and supplies. The ideal candidate has a strong mechanical aptitude, familiarity with engineering drawings and quality assurance techniques, organizational skills, in depth experience with precisionmachining operations, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment. The position is 100% on site in Indian Head, MD.

Responsibilities

- Provide highly technical expertise and guidance in solving complex engineering problems

- Perform in all phases of hardware design, development, integration/implementation, and analysis

- Plan and conduct engineering feasibility studies for the design improvement modifications and implementation of advanced technologies

- Develop standards and guidelines for tasks being performed

- Interface with government personnel

Qualifications
  • Bachelor27s Degree (or higher) in mechanical engineering or related field
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience.
  • Proven ability to independently drive tasks and projects from concept to production.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD tools (e.g., Creo, SolidWorks)
  • Experience with engineering drawings including GD&T, and design for manufacturing.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work across multi-disciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated experience developing, testing, and producing components and systems.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative mindset to work effectively across interdisciplinary teams.
  • Technical writing skills, with experience authoring test plans, procedures, and detailed technical reports.
  • Familiarity with researching and applying relevant military and commercial specifications and standards (e.g., MIL-STD, ASTM, ISO)
  • Conceptual and/or practical experience with finite element analysis (FEA) methods to support mechanical design and evaluation
  • In the office up to 5 days per week as required with option for situational telework.

Physical Demand:

    • Frequent walking, standing, and moving between workstations in the machine shop environment.
    • Ability to lift and move materials or parts weighing up to 50 pounds.
    • Regular exposure to noise, dust, and vibrations typical of a machine shop.
    • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as required, including safety glasses, gloves, and hearing protection.
    • Occasional bending, kneeling, and reaching to access materials or equipment.

 

SECURITY CLEARANCE REQUIREMENTS: Must be able to maintain a security clearance at the Secret level. US Citizenship is a requirement for Secret clearance at this location.
