Full Job Description
As a Mechanical Engineer, you'll leverage your strong foundation in physics, mathematics, and materials science to process and resolve mechanical problems, design and implement custom mechanical tooling and associated processes, and enable the handling, assembly, and disassembly of parts, components, sub-assemblies, and final assemblies throughout the product life cycle. You'll be responsible for designing, developing, and modifying mechanical engineering layouts, schematics, and specifications. You will oversee manufacturing and installation processes, ensuring adherence to industry standards and regulations-- and you'll coordinate the procurement and assembly of mechanical components and equipment for design projects, identifying sources of critical parts and subsystems to resolve technical issues. Key Responsibilities • This position is responsible for 1) designing mechanical components and modules for AR waveguide-related manufacturing and inspection equipment, 2) testing and verifying the feasibility of a new concept or approach, and 3) troubleshooting and improving third-party tools for manufacturing lines, with minimum mechanical engineering guidance. • This job requires following all the safety protocols in day-to-day activities and implementing safety certificates, such as Semi-S2 and CE, to the final products. • The person needs to communicate technical ideas and concepts to other mechanical engineering people and non-mechanical engineers. • Interface with internal and external customers to understand issues to solve. • Design/model mechanical modules and components, such as motion components, waveguide handling modules, and vacuum/CDA/liquid delivery modules. • Perform CAE/CAM/CAD analysis and interpret the data about the newly designed and existing systems/components/parts if necessary. • Generate drawings per internal and relevant industrial standards. • Select suitable OEM products and communicate with suppliers to implement them into equipment. • Communicate with machine shops and other OEM suppliers to procure the designed parts. • Assemble and test the designed products and purchased equipment, collect and analyze the data, feedback the result into the design to improve performance. • Document the design process, present it to internal/external customers, align the direction with them. • Document the procedure and train users for the newly designed products. • Prepare the document and dataset for safety certificates, such as Semi-S2 and CE. • Support startups and field issues regarding designed products. Minimum Qualifications • Education and Experience • BS in ME or the relevant field and 2yrs+ in the industry in mechanical designing • Engineering skills and Problem-Solving skills • Fluent in 3D CAD software, ideally Siemens NX, to design and draw equipment-related parts, modules, and assemblies per ASME Y14.5M standard. • Familiarity with design for function, reliability, serviceability, manufacturability, and cosmetic requirements. • Solid hands-on ability to integrate, debug/troubleshoot, and demonstrate robust solutions in an engineering lab environment. • Interpersonal skills: • Fluent in daily English conversation • Fluent in technical communication with data, models, and ideas • Fluent in technical reporting and documentation • Mindset: • Have an open mind to listen to other people's opinions to improve the ideas, plans, designs, etc. • Have vital learning agility and curiosity to learn new concepts, ideas, and subjects through working and self-learning, especially outside of the person's background. • Have a positive mindset to move the project forward. • Have a volunteering mindset to help and support other team members to accelerate and move the project forward smoothly. • Have the flexibility to handle random projects and frequent priority/scope changes. • Others: • Be able to commute to the office frequently. (This job role requires the lab experiment.) • Be able to carry 20lbs parts around. (This job role requires part-handling in the lab.) Additional Information Time Type: Full time Employee Type: Assignee / Regular Travel: Yes, 10% of the Time Relocation Eligible: Yes The salary offered to a selected candidate will be based on multiple factors including location, hire grade, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and with consideration of internal equity of our current team members.
